Eh. This is now the 3rd song from the new one that Im just not digging. The " new " way James sings , and the weak sounding drums of Lars from everything after the black album is just something I cant get into.

Can't please everyone. This is a good solid representation of a thrash song. The build. Arrangements. Gallopping riffs layed nicely upon each other. It's a streamed quality so the album version should be cleaner and crisper.

As far as Hetfields voice he is not going to sound like 80's when he was in his med 20's. That's just a given.

Hmmm. Getting a little better. I really need to hear this stuff on a real sound system instead of these shitty computer speakers.

I mean more of how he use to sing a bit more harsh or pissed off sounding. Ever since Load he has done more of trying to sound melodic which I dont think meshes well.

No offense considering you were inquiring about the latest Disturbed CD your opinion is null and void lol......

sorry but not a big disturbed fan.

As I said before alot of people keep talking about old metallica but this song especially is arranged in the old format....has the same time signatures....if this song was released in the 80's everyone would say this is vintage metallica....if "For Whome The Bell Tolls" were released today everydoy would say it's not old metallica.

I believe people have become so nostalgic that nothing they released would please them on the mere fact that they can't get over the hump they've built in the minds that metallica is done.

But that's my opinion.

I understand what you are getting about the Disturbed but you have to remember one thing. Disturbed has sounded like that when they came out so everyone is used to that.

Mettallica use to sound bad ass but lately they have lost who they use to be

I'm not bashing you so don't take offense. I like Mettallica just the "Old" Mettallica

No I understand that. What I'm trying to get at is I think people overall are either to hard on these guys are just expect the unrealistic from these guys.

I honestly believe that if these songs were released back in the 80's they would be held with high regard...I think at a younger age they would have been pulled off a bit more agressivley with hetfields voice back then.

I think if today songs such as bells, fade 2 black, escape, orion where released people would be just as hard on those songs today as they are on these current releases even though these new songs have the same feel and songwriting style of old.

Actually alot of songs they've only recently brought back into the setlist. Starting in 2004 with the ST. Anger tour they brought back songs that hadn't been played for years.

Jump in the fire, metal militia, ride the lightning, trapped under ice, disposable heroes, orion (played for the first time in 06), damage inc, blackened, and justice for all, dyers eve (played for the first time in 04).

during the mid to late 90's alot of load era songs where getting a majority of play time. Just recently have we seen old songs make their resurgence into the setlist. It's not like they've been playing the same songs since the dawn of time. They've even put other songs to rest while still bringing out such songs as bleeding me, king nothing, memory remains, devils dance, fuel.....

I've kinda just put myself in the mind set that Metallica as I know them are the first 4 albums (justice, kill'em, master, and ride, I don't consider garage days as one of them) and now their 4 talented musicians that look like the original Metallica creating new songs under the old name.

My memories and feelings will always be tied to those first 4 albums. Learning to smoke while Jump in the Fire played, spraining my neck for the 3rd time to creeping death, banging my girlfriend all afternoon to Orion on a repeat mixtape. I've let them and the new stuff go and just kept the REAL metallica live in the first 4 albums and my memories

I'll give the new stuff a try, but I'll treat it just as some new bar band that made it big and they now have a record contract.

Some (not all) of the those St. Anger songs aren't too bad when played in a live setting. Only a handful though. I don't care to hear those songs in concert.
