Ok so here's the deal. I've uploaded my many cds to my itunes for my ipod. However there are certain cds of mine that have scratches so therefor they transfer ever with said flaw of skipping scratching etc.

I was able to purchase most of the bad apple songs through itunes store however apple doesn't carry every artist/song and such.

Limewire was mentioned to me but I don't like the notion of the illegal file sharing debate going on and the fact some are being made examples of by the music industry.

So I'm assuming downloading music from limewire is illegal. Or is it only if you allow your files to be shared as well:shrug:

Also what another alternative or site I could possibly browse to see if they carry other artist? For purchase of music and individual songs?

Downloading and file sharing is illegal. I used to use it and only downloaded and had no issues though. It seems the people that got/get caught up in RIAA lawsuits are the ones that are sharing.

true. i turned off all the files for sharing in limewire. plus, i never seed torrents. leeching ftw.

i'll never understand why people go to so much trouble to share illegal shit. perfect example- dvd movies a month before they hit store shelves.

So my question would be this. Can you download songs and be in the clear as long as they're not being shared from your system?

Sorry if I make no sense at all to this as I'm a new user of the ipod and very illiterate to this type of stuff.:??:

You may not get caught if you do this but it is no less illegal and IF caught you can be prosecuted. so no you are not "in the clear

you can download stuff that you already own (and can prove you own it) and be good to go. If you do NOT already own the tune you are subject to prosecution. The sharer of the tune is still in trouble however

Everything I have I own. 95% from my cd collection and the rest purchased through Itunes.

But never the less If I want only certain songs and not the album and Itunes doesn't carry every artist. What other site could I vist to make purchases.

Anyone have any suggestions? Maybe I'm not browsing right but all I come up with is limewire and Kazoo:nonono:

put it this way. multiply the needle in the haystack metaphor by a million and those are the chances of getting caught for downloading off limewire. way too many peple and way too many songs to be singled out, it happens it's just astronomical for it to happen to you. with that said, if itunes can't help you. get them off limewire. or you could always go back to the cd store and buy the cd. it all depends on you

Torrents is where its at now. Limewire is too risky and now ISP's are blocking it. Download utorrent and search sites called PizzaTorrent, Isohunt and The Pirate Bay and it should be pretty self explanatory from there. Try to find newer music(uploaded in the last month or so) and Find albums/songs with plenty more seeders than leechers(more people uploading than downloading)

Oh and when youre not paying for a song/album, its all illegal. But Id bet less than 100 people out of hundreds of millions have been prosecuted for downloading

The only people getting caught are the people who are downloading MASSIVE amounts of content and spreading it to MANY people. They don't waste their time going after people who download a few albums illegally.

There was a woman that seeded a couple songs only (it was actually her kid I believe) and the got slapped with a $150,000 fine.

When I used it a long, long time ago, I shared a folder but only put 1 stupid ass file in it that no one ever would upload anyway.

I thought it was as long as you didnt distribute it so if what most of you say is true if you use a song on your myspace or whatever and dont pay for it its illegal, if you tape record a song on the radio just so you can hear it when you want to its still illegal?? Correct me if I am wrong but just cause you can listen to it rewind fast forward it makes it illegal but you can listen to it over the air for free without penalty. Thats F@$%^ retarded

That is why you move it all out of any folders remotely related to Limewire.

I believe the new fever is downloading actual Blu-Ray & HD-DVD movies, unchanged (well except for all the menu features). You get the original content in a huge 30GB download. I've DL'ed a couple only until 'Cumcast' capped my connection. As soon as Blu-Ray burners become cheaper, you can expect to find bootleg discs in many places
