Any suggestions on what has worked for a stronger spark? Basically had to stop the tune at 15#'s due to blowing out the spark. Plugs were gapped at
.028 with Taylor 409 10.4 mm wires. Would a KB Boost a spark help? What ignitions work well? I have heard good and bad about MSD. Any help again would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Picm yourself up the WeaponX Performance XCOPS. Many high boost guys have eliminated their spark blow out issues with these bad boys. Plenty of info on them at ModularFords.com

The hell with aftermarket coils. I have taken i dont know how many of them off because of missfire issues. What type of system are you running? COP? If so just do the BAS if not i usually use an MSD dis4

I have used the KB BAS and DIS 4 with GREAT results.

Weapon X plugs are worth the $

I personally did not gain anything using them. I made the same 880 rwhp through an automatic with and without them. No spark blowout issues and 150 mph trap speed. The car was making power with stock coil packs. To me, it's all in the type of plug and the gap that you run. I had all kinds of issues with those as well as NGK plugs and went to an Autolite AR93 and eliminated any issues. The AR93's with stock coil packs worked better for me than the Weapon X COP's with their plugs or NGK's. The Autolite plugs have cut back electrodes and have a preset gap of .024 or something. I'm hoping to put down 1000 rwhp + through a TH400 this year and trap 160+ with stock coil packs.

It sounds like the guy who posted the initial question is running the older twin coil setup. What plugs are you running? I've run as much as 29 psi with stock coil packs. I don't know how the twin coils compare.

Sorry, yes this a 97 motor with twin coil packs, 04 heads, sullivan, and so on. How is the driveability with a .024 gap or does it not make a difference? The plugs I used were NGK TR6's gapped at .028. This might be in the wrong forum, if so I'm sorry.
So you think the AR 93's would work better?

I have no idea how the dual coil packs are when it comes to spark output. All I can tell you is what I did with the COP stuff. I found no benefit with the Weapon X COP's on my particular car. That doesn't mean they didn't work. I had NGK TR-6 plugs in the car gapped @ .028 and then at .026. We ran a very rich conservative tune and they had a hell of a time burning the fuel over 22 psi of boost. I installed the AR-93's untouched out of the box and we were able to get to 27-28 psi with NO spark issues. The guy that recommended them said he never drove with them on the street but uses them in all of the race cars. I figured I would try. I drove the car from last June right through October with those same plugs in there with no isses. When I say drove, I mean I drove the car everyday, rain or shine, to and from work about 20 minutes away and then all over the place on weekends and trips to the track an hour plus away. No issues. I would seriously try them before dropping big $$$ on an MSD setup or something else. Be sure to post the results. I'm curious if that is all it is.
