That seems pretty useless. How can they force OPEC to abide by our antitrust laws?
Not to mention, the fact that OPEC will just cut production to say "funk you" and raise them even more.
Maybe instead of useless stuff like this, congress should repeal some of the "green" rules and regs around building refineries since that is the main bottle neck for us...not opec.
I am glad that Bush can't veto it, but I hope this doesn't back fire. I don't want to pay 18 dollars for a gallon of milk.
Why can't bush veto it?
Also, the fact that congress is going after OPEC is just a matter of trying to shift blame. The blame needs to start here first because we have locked down refineries so none have been built since the 70s. Hmm, maybe we should look there looong before we try and blame others. But, I know, this isn't the american way anymore.
Because it passed with more than 2/3rds of the vote.
And I agree about this being stupid. Why don't they sue the assholes that keep blocking us from drilling locally?

:nonono:The bill would subject OPEC oil producers, including Saudi Arabia, Iran and Venezuela, to the same antitrust laws that U.S. companies must follow.

Dear President Ahmadinejad & President Chavez:
We just passed a law in the US that you must comply with, OK? We'll just fax it to you so you can lower oil prices before the end of the day. Thanks and have a great day!
Signed, the US Congress
Probably because the assholes that keep us from drilling locally are the same asshole that conjured up this bill.
