If anyone wants to see pictures go to my website and here's a link to it. I don't have pic's of the throttle body but you can see the inlet, outlet, and the rotor lead-in's enough to do a very good Home Port if you spend your time.

Nice work Brian. Self-porting isn't for the majority, but you've shown it can be done. Be sure to post the numbers when you get them. :)

It helps to have a drill press or even a mill but it can be done with the tools listed. If anyone needs any other pictures just let me know. Also this isn't a contest of whose port is better than whose it's just something for us to go off of. Please add any pictures that anyone might have of their port.

Also thanks goes out to Strats03svt:beer: for letting me R&D on his perfectly good blower. Let's just hope the dyno/track treats him good.

Later,

I forgot if anyone wants to port their lower then this is what I did. It's just as easy and only takes a little time. The radii that's running along the bottom and up to the ports was made a lot larger. Factory was probably around 3/16 and not it's about a 5/16 plus polished. Then where that leads to I made it to where the air hits and goes both ways. The first picture below is the stock lower and you can compare how the air hopefully moves better after the port. There was a lot of work done around the fuel injector bosses and between the ports.

This is on my car now and hopefully along with doing some work to my Whipple will help it also. I ported the Whipple's plenum only where it bolts onto the back of the Rotor Case and I'm going to remove the humps where the intercooler bolts onto it also. I've allways said if I think there's a chance it might hurt power then I won't do it. With the things I'm doing on the Whipple I don't think there is even a remote chance it will hurt anything.

I just ground the bumps off for the IAC with the carbide cutter. Then the bolts just need to be shortened. Then the throttle body was just ground away the the carbide cutter also and smoothened out with the flapper. They make some pretty small diameters so you can get into the corners. Also use the wire wheel like you were saying it's just I didn't know about it and have yet to try it. Between all the home porters I bet we can get a great port design.

Note to everyone:read:! DO NOT USE GRINDING STONES TO DO THIS! THEY WILL LOAD UP AND YOU WILL TAKE A CHANCE OF IT EXPLODING IN YOUR FACE WHILE GRINDING. I don't think that's something anyone wants to chance. Only cut using a "cutter" and not a stone.

If your car is already tuned for a ported blower then for just the TB/plenum port I don't see why you'd need a retune. And yes in the past I've noticed better throttle response when I ported Throttle Bodies. That even goes with my 97 Cobra that I had. This is my second blower but I've done a few more throttle bodies.

Also another thing is there was zero welding on any of this. So that helps to do it yourself also.

Shouldnt need a tune unless he changes pullies.

True, normally you don't. But occasionally you do. I was one of those exceptions because when I installed my ported blowe I went about a half a point lean. It's always a smart idea to check your A/F after any motor mod just to be safe.

This is interesting I think I could handle it. I have all the equipment. I think the hardest part for me would be removing the blower haha.I'll keep this thread in mind for after I get the car paid off and i have some Dyno tune and mod money. I love the sound of a ported blower sounds mean:rockon:

Believe me removing and then putting the blower back on is the hardest thing to do here! The blower is back to his owner and hopefully on the car this weekend. Stay tuned for comments and dyno session. It's pretty much out of my hands now but Strats03svt will post everything in the best/honest way possible. Now we just need some numbers.
