Hello everyone, I'm a new member here!
But anyways the 2.5L V6 in Probe was produced by Mazda, and Ford Germany took it and based the Duratec on it. The old 2.5l can be also found in Millenia or MX-6.

That is such a load of crap!

The Duratec engine was completely designed from scratch by Porsche and used the Cosworth casting process on the block & heads. In it's original form it was around a 250/200 engine.

Then Ford got their hands on it and things went a little downhill.
Like shortening the block for instance :bash: Porsche threw a fit over that idea but history and crank whip tells us Ford did not listen. :bash:
Ford also made the UIM flatter to fit under the hood. This squeezed off a bit of airflow in the process. (hence why simply EHing the stock UIM alone gives such good gains - SH UIM, DH UIM , TH UIM for example)

For the record - The SVT cams were designed and tested by Roush. The profiles really are quite exceptional.

The Duratec has a significant amount of power hidden in it's design. It's just our job to pull out all the power Ford covered up.

BTW - IT IS IN NO WAY RELATED TO OR BASED OFF THE MAZDA ENGINE. :cuss: :bash: :gt: :mj: :nono:

Yep yep I was totaly wrong on that one. Its a Cosworth/Porsche based engine, first appeared around the year of 1990.
DURable - Advance - TEChnology = DURATEC
:burnout:
