Well... It’s been awhile. Spring hit and summer fever kicked in. Finally got back around to doing some work.

-Found a nasty spot in the door, cut out welded in new metal. (Has since been ground down smooth).
-Sanding some surface rust out.
-Prepping the door hinge faces for a little filler to smooth out the pits.

Sand Sand Sand Sand Sand

Getting it all scuffed up to find the low spots. Not to many thankfully. Little here, little there.

Buddy traded for this hood years ago. Started sanding it down. Fiberglass, very light. Has pin holes, but is still a hinge style hood.

What are your guy’s thought on the hood? Still have the stocker too.

Little progress is getting the ambition up again.

Enjoying watching your project. Is anyone else weirded out seeing an early 90s stang being restored and having a little rust? I started out with a 67 back in HS (mid-90s) so it's just crazy that these cars are now roughly the same age.

To show the progression on the door hinges. A lot of time spent here, but I think they turned out awesome. All new metal, cut out all the rust.

-Finished wheel tubs. Won’t see them when all the panels are back on, but should prevent rust and looks nice.
-Realized I never put up any pictures of the doors. The underside was showing some rust, so we wire wheeled it down and por-15’d the bottoms. I’m sure you will see the line when we spray over it. But hoping it will keep from rusting again. After all it is just the bottom and inside.

Another progression shot on the passenger side door jam. Could still use some sanding to get it smoother. But all new metal and coming together.

Rolled the fenders so the tires won’t rub anymore.

Began filling in chips and blemishes, sanding them down and repeat. Has been a lot of block work. We learned fast to use as little filler as possible when applying. Majority of it all gets sanded back off.

Learning a lot as we go.

Was a big day yesterday. Got a lot of hours in.

Unfortunately we found a sizable filler spot in the passenger fender. It was done very well, we never knew there was filler there. But that will have to be addressed.

Fun fact. I made this pistol grip out of a block of aluminum in high school shop class. It has since been in this car, going on 10-years now.

Looks GREAT!!!

Might be late to this party, but this is what I used over the POR-15 before final painting.

I had a Bronco TG that had minor surface rust over the entire thing. POR'd it first, then used this primer. Pic here is the primer in light blue (had already sprayed the white part of 2-tone).

DCP04503.JPG

That was 2009, and TG still looks great.
