Hello, I don’t have a supercharger to sell but I’d like to offer feedback on the Whipple 2.9. I had one (I believe Gen 2) on my 09, and didn’t love it. It seemed to build boost with rpm and wasn’t that “snappy” on the hit. I put 4.10s in that car and it helped, but it still didn’t have the immediate response like the little 2.3 Whipple on my Terminator when spun hard. I’d see if the later generation Whipples are different. If not, I’d look for a VMP Gen 2R, Gen 3, or Gen 3R.

stay away from the later gen Whipples as well. (TwinScrew)
If you want snappy street car, than stick with a VMP Unit (TVS)
I would 100% go 3R in OP's particular situation

You must’ve been spinning it very slow.

My old Gen2 Whipple snaps to 19psi as fast as I can get my foot to the floor.

Limited posts in here but the info is trash.

The newer Gen Whipple’s are even better.

The good news is, there are plenty of very low mile VMPs for sale on FB.

^ My car was done by AED, as was my terminator. The GT500 made 730rw on pump. It ran well, don’t get me wrong, but was nowhere near as snappy as my terminator with a Whipple 2.3 on race gas (making 630rw). You can call this info trash but it’s my first-hand experience. I’ve read others had the same experience with the 2.9.

What RPM were you spinning the 2.9 at?

My brother has an Eaton car and it’s a ****ing turd.

My car pulls as hard in 3rd as his does in first and the only way his car would even nose ahead of me on the hit is because I spin at any RPM in 2nd if I stab it.

Love how people talk shit about different blower companies, anything is an upgrade over the Eaton
Ya I hate that too

Why? Just curious because I have a gen3 2.9 on my terminator and I want to know where I went wrong, where I didn’t think I did

Didn't see where I said anything about a whipple being the wrong choice for a 4.6
We are in the Shelby section right? ok, just checking

My point to the OP was that since he already has a Gen 1 VMP, he might not be that happy with the Gen 2 Whipple 2.9. Given his choice of blowers, I assume he’s on a stock engine and likely runs pump gas. I think a VMP or newer Whipple of some type on such a setup may provide a more satisfying torque curve. I can’t speak to the later generation Whipples, as I’ve never had one. I did have a VMP Gen2R on another car, and it was amazing for such a small rotor pack.

Anyhow, I never meant to imply the Whipple 2.9 regardless of generation was not a good blower or doesn’t perform well. If I didn’t like Whipples, I wouldn’t have bought two of them. My GT500 would spin drag radials at probably 90mph in cool weather when coming up on boost. But immediate throttle response driving from stoplight to stoplight wasn’t as satisfying as it could be. Like I said, I put 4.10s in that car which helped. But if I were starting over on a stock engine GT500 on pump, I’d research newer Whipples and VMPs vs the Gen 2 Whipple 2.9. My $0.02, perhaps free for a reason!

OP, you would not be disappointed with a Whipple 2.9 Gen 4 w/ 3.00" pulley, if you have quality 93 pump gas or better... that's where the party starts! If road coursing my car, I would pulley up to 3.25" to remove some of the "snappiness". I will just leave this here because it is sexy as hell

Still searching? I have a gen 4 2.9 whipple (part number w175ax) that I never installed along with a whipple billet 68mm TB I've considered parting ways with. Located in Lexington, sc.
