I have a 2010 with the 2013/14 Ford brake upgrade kit with the Brembo 6 piston. Looking for a set of pads without breaking the bank that are equal to or better than the Ford stock pads for stopping power along with trying to reduce some of the dust (I think the Ford pads in the kit were semi-metallic). The stock pads stopped the car well but the front dust issue is getting old.

I read a lot of complaints that some aftermarket pad sets are not covering the same rotor area as the stocks (smaller pad size) so I want to avoid those brands if possible. Keeping existing rotors - will clean them - very little wear

I tried a set of the new Raybestos Element3 (ceramic hybrids) on an Escape as was shocked at the increase in stopping power over the stock pads but I haven't been able to determine if they really have a pad set available for the 2013-14 Shelby. Supposed to be reduced dust and rotor wear too..so far seems to be true.

Ive heard nothing but good things about Hawk Performance and StopTech products for the Brembo. Im using Wilwood pads and they have been good to me. Brake pad dust is inevitable unfortunately and many factors come in to play of how much your going to get.

Hawk's lower end pads are terrible. As you said, dust is inevitable since its a function of a high performance pad. I like my Feroso DS2500 and DS1.11.

I personally like Hawk pads but they can be noisy. But then again im looking for performance and great stopping power.

Sounds like OP wants a street friendly pad like OEM with less dust.

Autozone gold ceramics pads use to be a great go to for a street car. Low dust and very quiet.

Wilwood does not make a good street pad for their 6 piston front caliper. EBC no longer makes a replacement, Hawk is your only option and is an improvement, but does dust more than normal.

I have seen multiple people on here vote in favor of these for the GT500s. I am not sure, I think they have been discontinued. Can anyone confirm?

I know they are on the expensive side but the carbotech 1521's are recommended by a few of the guys on the fordgt500 forum. They also cover the full area of the rotor. The hawk pads i've heard do not.

It looked at them...the fronts are DG1666 it seems they are semi-metallic material even though the box says ceramic??....little confusing...says low dust but no comments on the site for these pads yet. I think they had a ceramic gold max pad in the past that everyone was using but it appears they dropped that option....not sure about these pads at this time

Correct they did, and the backing was a softer compound for no noise. Used them on an F150 and they were great. But never used them on a performance vehicle because i didn't believe they would hold up to what i would put them through

I ordered the Z23 pads front and back for both the GT500 and the Xfire. I was surprised that the Xfire pads were quite a bit more than the GT500 at Rockauto.

I'll pull the fronts on both cars when they arrive to see if they are the same rotor coverage as the stockers. If not they go back.

Since the Z23 and Z26 are the same material with different backings, I ordered the Z23 to eliminate any possible brake squealing - I don't track the car. It's embarrassing having a GT500 making braking noises pulling up to a light in the hot summer.

I bought the Carquest Wearever Gold Ceramic pads GNAD1666 for front and GNAD1465 for the back and put them on early 2020. Dust on the factory pads was horrible. No dust with these pads. I see the GNA1465 (rear) still on Advance Auto website but GNAD1666 (front) replaced with PMD1666. $68 for the front and $38 for the back.

The issue with those pads (PMD1666) is that they are semi-metallic...probably good stopping power but I think dust will be an issue. The stock pads were semi-metallic and I think all semi-metallic tend to shed a lot of fine particles (dust) that seem to really coat the brake components and rims no matter what you coat them with. The newer hybrid ceramic composites seem to get back some of the lost braking capacity from pure ceramics and keep the dust output low. That's why I went with the Z23...just got them..now pulling pads on my existing cars to check the surface areas.

I'm running these front and rear on my 14. I did them way back when nothing else was available. The fronts are a correct, full-size pad for the 13-14 rotor. Brake dust was significantly reduced. They are fine for street use. I did run them one time at a track event and will never run them again on track.

To clarify, track event .....meaning road course or a couple rips down the 1/4 mile?
Would they perform well for 4 or 5 passes down the track with cool down in between?

I second this question. :)
I’ll be honest I’ll never open track my ‘14 but she does see the strip

Received my Z23 pads and Raybestos rotors from RockAuto in 2 days!...way ahead of their schedule shipping time.

Xfire- had EBC Red Stuff pads...still good so kept but swapped in the Z23. Z23 backs were chamfered quit a bit compared to the EBC, disappointed but same exact pad sizes. Fronts were slightly larger than EBC with little chamfering. Used old rotors - still good. This may be a step down in braking !

GT500.....installed new rotors - Raybestos Street Performance...coated and heavier than stock Ford rotors. Rear pads removed and they were Z26!! don't even remember installing them but they were worn more than half way and both sides cracked near center.
Front pads...pulled stock and compared....stock pad surfaces are LARGER than the Z23. The Z23 leave about 1/4 of used rotor surface at the bottom. Not good. Installed anyway but may swap out in the spring. Keep old pads still had a lot of material left.
Weird thing is the shape of the backing plate on the old front pads....it only allows half of the piston surfaces to actually contact the backing plate of all six pistons. On the Z23 the full piston surfaces contact their plate...

taking old GT500 rotors to have them resurfaces, no warpage or gouges and still in good shape.. If Z23 suck I'm going back to stock front rotors with Carbotech pads.

Track event meaning a road course with 20 minute sessions. They would be fine at a drag strip.
