Empowering criminals this way will only serve to embolden them more.

The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) tweeted a release Tuesday advising city residents to “cooperate and comply” when being robbed.

The release begins:

“Due to an increase in violent street robberies, Robbery-Homicide Division has become aware of an ongoing crime trend of follow-home robberies. Suspects have been locating victims in Los Angeles, following them, and then committing the robberies as the victim arrives home or at their business. These crimes have occurred throughout the City of Los Angles as well as neighboring cities. Different suspects have been identified and arrested for these types of crimes.”

LAPD then uses the release to outline seven points conveying the department’s advice for what city residents ought to do in response to the robberies.

Point five on the release says, “If you are being robbed, do not resist the robbery suspects; cooperate and comply with their demands. Be a good witness.”

California is one of the most stringently gun-controlled states in the Union. The state has had universal background checks and an “assault weapons” ban since the 1990s.

Moreover, the state limits the number of guns law-abiding citizens can buy each month, requires law-abiding citizens to show “good cause” in order to be approved for a concealed carry permit, bans campus carry for self-defense, bans K-12 teachers from having guns for classroom defense, has a ten-day waiting period on gun purchases, has gun registration requirements for law-abiding citizens, has a red flag law, and the state also has a ban on “high-capacity” magazines (which is currently being litigated).

Additionally, California has ammunition controls which include background checks for ammunition purchases and said purchases to in-state ammunition dealers who are approved by the state.

In spite of all the gun and ammunition controls, Los Angeles is seeing “an increase in violent street robberies.”

If you live there, what else has to happen to finally convince you to leave that shit hole? How much more are you going to take? The local and State Government is betting that the majority will just sit there and take it, time and time again. Like the frog in the pan of water on the stove. The Government keeps turning up the heat and the populace just sits there and let themselves get cooked to death.

I mean it's dumb to say as a public policy. But, that was how I was brought up. Money and things are replaceable. I dont usually carry more than $200 cash and I'll cancel all the cards before you hit the store. Not getting killed over it.

True, but we’re in a situation where crime is increasing and depending on the region, public policy is essentially encouraging it.

Restrictive policing

No cash bail

Not even charging people for certain crimes

Just like a dog, what you allow them to do, you train them to do.

Also, this policy is in regards to people being followed to their homes.

Policy statement should have been to stand your ground and be prepared.

My service weapon is on the kitchen counter until I go to bed, then it’s on the nightstand or in my bag in the floor. Course I live in Texas, was just telling my GF that I still haven’t seen a single tent anywhere.

I bet you Austin does.... some of the major cities are exhibiting side effects from liberal policies.

That message to LA residents is bullshit. It WILL only embolden thugs and criminals to ramp up their attacks. I carry my 9mm for a reason (soon to be a S&W revolver). No f'ing way I would comply with an policy statement like that. I hope most of us here fully understand that violent crime and robberies are up, big time, for a reason. Many police departments are understaffed and activists are asking for more reductions or eliminations. Carrying and protecting yourself is not only a right, it's a necessity today. JMO.

Its LA PD what do you expect. They are criminals themselves. Smart play if you ask me. Less resistance makes it much easier for them to commit crimes.

I was literally thinking an hour ago about going back to Redondo Beach/Long Beach for a week to see my cousin. We used to go there every couple of years, but when things starting speed to the Left we stopped going. As much as I miss "old" Southern California, it's just changed too much. I'm sure we'd be really more disappointed than I think we'd be. Sad, because there was a time back in the late '60s when I really wanted to settle in the Long Beach area after finishing my 4 year Navy enlistment.

I lived in Kali for 33 years, finally ****ing got out.
Kali kept getting worse, year after year, and only from government corruption and coastal cities voting like RETARDS.
more taxation, more illegals, more GUN CONTROL, more idiotic laws.
the sad part is, LA and SFO control the ENTIRE state. Central state is VERY republican. But it doesn't matter, because of the LA and SFO population.
They tried to "recall" the governor, and course that entire thing was bullshit, they were never going to recall Newsome. That mother ****er is going to run for Pres soon.
California is basically unlivable now, thanks to the retards. You can't even buy a ****ing house unless you have $800,000. While you live in your million dollar home, the bums across the street shoot up heroin. What a paradise.
