I just bought an LG C1 (OLED with self-lit LEDs) and love it. $1799.99 at Costco with a free 3-year warranty extension for a total of 5 years. I had a 55" (C7P) LG OLED and replaced it with the 65" C1. I'm very happy with it. The 65" is just big enough. I like the audio on the C1, too. Much better than my 55".LG C1 or Sony A80J

Plus, 4K content is still somewhat limited. YoutubeTV offers a couple of 4K channels (mostly sports), but the content even within those channels is limited. I won't subscribe to it until the majority of content/channels are 4K. That said, you're correct that a 4K TV can be a waste. It depends on your bandwidth at your home and your WiFi quality. Also, if you're not optimally sitting in front of the screen, you probably won't be able to tell the difference between 4K and true 1080P. I mainly use my 4K TV for viewing UltraHD video disks. But personally, if I was looking to buy a TV for another room in our home, it would be a 4K set. I think the majority of offerings nowadays are 4K anyway because that's what the consumer wants.I’m cautiously optimistic that my living room Tv will die before Christmas this year and I can upgrade.
Of course my wife goes, “my next TV will be a 4k TV.”
Why though? We have shitty regular satellite, netflix, a switch, and a PS4. A 4k TV would just be a waste of money. We’ll see what happens.
Our internet is dog shit as well. Just another reason to save money.Plus, 4K content is still somewhat limited. Size and price lolHaha why? The price?
My wife always complains if I try to watch a movie with a little bit of volume. So I realized a long time ago it is worthless to get a good sound system. She does not appreciate it. If I want to watch a movie with decent sound good headphones is the way to go haha! I also don't want to lose my hearing so I go easy with the volume regardless. How is the quality of a wireless surround system vs. wired? I'm happy with the LG's audio and only use my wired surround (5 speakers plus sub-woofer) when watching movies. The wireless surround systems make installation so much easier.
Do you have the Netflix 4k package? I am tempted to get it but I just never pull the trigger on that. They compress their videos so much anyway I think. You'll get 4k with a lot of noticeable artifacts, especially in dark scenes.Plus, 4K content is still somewhat limited.
