Okay everyone,

I know I normally wait until Monday to post up, but couldn't wait LOL.

Got my car all fixed up.

I put the car back down on the wheel dolly's so I could move it back in position.

Got the car back in position so I can have full access to both sides.

I removed the upper portion of the stacks. Been here done this before LOL.
20210911_105454.jpg

Upon closer inspection it looks like the cable just pulled through. It was frayed, but not snapped.

Here you can see the throttle cable was in an "S" shape. This is probably what caused to much tension and why it pulled through. I think I originally cut the cable too short which is why I ran it this way. No Bueno LOL.

Here is how I have it routed now. Much cleaner and smoother operation.

Okay, once I got to this point I stopped taking pictures, because I had a serious pucker factor moment. I went to reinstall the stacks and noticed one of my bolts was missing for my throttle assembly. I was looking everywhere and couldn't find it.

So, I was like. NO.... NO WAY!!!! COULD IT BE????? YES, it was down inside the intake port of the #7 cylinder. JESUS CHRIST!!!! So, I put together a make shift magnet using the left over throttle cable sheathing and was able to retrieve it.

Man, talk about a scary moment. Thank God that valve was closed and everything is cool. Whew....

So, I finished putting everything back together and it was time to test fire it again.

After I finished up I made 2 short videos. Oh, I highly recommend you listen to this with headphones or through your stereo. Phone and computer speakers will not do you any favors LOL.

This is of the car firing up and letting you guys hear the rear exit. I wanted to include the side exhaust in this video, but realized I forgot to hook up the power cord to the cigarette lighter. You can see me press the button on the remote and wonder why nothing is happening LMAO. Then the light bulb comes on. So there are 2 videos LOL.

I paused the video and then made this one with the cutouts being activated. You can definitely tell when the cutouts open LOL. And I'm no professional so, don't mind the occasion filming of my phalanges LMAO!!!

Hello All,

I don't have any updates as I did not work on the 65 today.

I took a break and focused on my 2 Cobras and my Roush today. I changed the oil and filter on all 3 vehicles. I used Amsoil in all 3.

Also, I must say I'm very happy with the sound of my 65, but it doesn't feel like it's running 100% yet. I think it's running too rich. I'll need to get it tuned, so I don't think I'm going to start it anymore until I can get it to a performance shop.

I'm happy with it so far. The only issue I have is my fuel injectors are not listed in the computer's initial set up program. Instructions say that if the injectors are not listed they can be installed by a tuner. So, I'll go that route once the car is completed.

I think I used the wrong information during the initial set up since the injectors are not listed and the injectors are spraying too much fuel. I talked to my brother and he said not to run the car any more. He said with my compression ratio it will heat up quick without the cooling system installed and if my fuel injectors are spraying too much fuel I may wash out the cylinders with all that fuel.

So, I'll move on to other projects on the car and get it finished up and then trailer it to a local performance shop to get a tune before I fire it up again. It might not be running right yet, but it does run :D .

It sounds really good brother. Those side pipes are great. The deal with the MSD box is funny now that it’s working. A lot of win this weekend.

An amazing build! I cringe when I see so many people nowadays starting engines without the cooling system set up.

Also, excellent choice with the Borla system. That is engine porn.

Holy crap that sounds eargasmic! I was curious when seeing pictures of the open intake if everything was going to be ok, glad you found the missing nut! Tuning those stacks takes some time but it’s worth it to get them all 100% even, I know from my buddy’s 67 with the 427 and the Weber stacks he has on his coupe too. Did you in your OCD crawl under and polish the side exit tubing? It looks great!

Very nice brother!!
Sounds awesome. Sounds like she likes to party! lol
Thank you tones! Yes, I think when I get it all sorted out she will party with the best of them LMAO!

Thank you Todd! I was wondering how it would sound uncapped and it is awesome! Yeah, I have to admit the MSD box deal is funny being I didn't hook up the wire that actually turns the box on. Glad it runs now though. I stress when things don't work and you have to "figure" out what the problem is. Always nice when it's simple.

I agree on not running it again until you get a cooling system in there. Don't forget it's still in cold start so it's going to seem rich. Isn't your system self learning?
Thanks Bob! Yes sir it is a self learning system. And you're right the cooling temperature sensor must let the computer know how cold the car is which also contributes to the fuel curve. So, technically I cannot let the car get hot enough to get out of the cold start setting.

Glenn, that’s an epic car you’re building. Once it is completed I say we organize a Texas SVTP car rally somewhere. I’d love to see it in person
Thank you Todd! I've always had high aspirations for this car. My Dad always tells me I'm over building the car. However, I don't mind. I'm building it for me, not the profit margin LOL. I am not opposed to a Texas SVTP car rally. My oldest daughter actually lives in Dallas. So, I may trailer the car out there one day for a show or something. So, Dallas might be a good car rally spot for me.

Hello Torquerules! Thank you for the awesome feedback. I hear you on the running the car without a cooling system. However, I have only started the car 3 times and each time it was for 1 minuet or less. I'm mainly trying to ensure the car runs so I'm not chasing Gremlins once the car is done. I'm glad I'm doing it this way. The car did not start on my initial try. I had to remove my center console and undue some wiring I had already zip tied to get to my MSD box. It would be much more difficult to disassemble if the car was done and then I try to figure out problems. Thank you on the Borla comment. I've said it before, once people see those stacks, it's like the rest of the car doesn't exist LOL.

Thank you geoffmt! I have to admit that this thing definitely sounds meaner with the side exhaust coming right off the header than it did with the dumps back in the day.

Yeah, I tried to remove the upper intake with the bolts in the heim joints for the throttle set up. Once I lifted the stacks and the heim joint swung down I guess the bolt came loose and went exactly where I didn't want it to go. The other one remained in place. Go figure. Murphy's law I guess. Other than those bolts there was nothing else being worked with that could fall down the intake, which is why they were not taped closed.

I have the tool to get the stacks even, so, I'll play with it once everything is done and it's time to tune it.

LOL, I did have OCD when it came to my exhaust pipes. So, I actually ordered polished stainless steel to begin with. Therefore, I didn't have to polish them myself LOL. Very glad I went that route. It not only sounds good, but it looks great.

If you’re coming to Dallas let me know…I want to see this thing too!

You got it C2tuck! If I ever trailer the car out to Dallas I'll give you a heads up. Not sure when this may happen, but I'm sure it will happen one day. Not a lot of car stuff here locally. I normally go to a big show in San Diego. My oldest step daughter lives in Phoenix and, as mentioned, my oldest daughter is in Dallas.

So, I'm sure I'll be trailering this car to a few places in the future.

Hello Everyone,

Been getting a lot of little things done. With the wife in Phoenix I've been in the garage after work some nights this past week.

First thing I did was get my fuel pressure adjusted. This is just priming the pump with the key in the "run" position. Might need to tweak it once the car is running.

I also went to see my powder coater and asked him to powder coat my breathers to make them match my valve covers a little more.

Got my fuel pressure set to 43PSI per the Holley Terminator instructions.

Here is how the breathers looked BEFORE powder coating:

Now here is how they look powder coated. Much better. At least now they match the valve covers with the fins black and the outer edge polished.

Then I started working on my front end wiring. Need to get things ready for the headlights, parking lights, turn signals and electric fans. This also included the padding for the radiator.

Here is the radiator support bare.

Here you can see the frame rail pockets I created are bare.

Here you can see the padding around the radiator support opening.

And here are the frame rail pockets with the padding installed.

Created the harness to run from the driver's side to the passenger side.
20210918_113050.jpg

Ran the wiring through the lower radiator support frame rail.
20210918_113115.jpg

Got it routed to the passenger side.

And here is the wiring for the electric fans.

The last thing I did was install my PS pump, PS pump pulley, thermostat, by pass hose and my belts. Man, it's really starting to look like a finished product.

PS pump installed.

Got my bypass hose installed. I really like these shrink clamps. Gives it such a clean look.
20210919_103827.jpg

Here you can see the thermostat is installed. I talked to Borla. Even though this is a fuel injection set up they recommended a 180 degree thermostat. I went with that as I don't like the car running hot. My brother thinks I should have went with a 195.
20210919_103833.jpg

Got some Gates belts and installed those. I needed to buy new belts as the old ones were to small. Man, I do love a serpentine belt set up.
