Worthless piece of trash GONE! Too bad Officer Potter sustained head injuries from the thug but the other officer saved anyone else getting injured by emptying his magazine into the thug. BAM!

Just watched video and might have a favorite new slow-motion sound…

juwn juwn juwn juwn juwn juwn juwn juwn juwn juwn

Glad they survived. Also, I don’t usually feel bad for the people that are around someone like that, but the other two (and the baby) about got ****ed up too…

While it's always easy to Monday quarterback a situation, the two Deputies are lucky to be alive. If the douchebags' weapon had not jammed, the end result would have been very different.

Certainly, I'm glad that the Deputies won the fight. A win is a win, but, this win was left to chance.

There is a lot to be learned from this video.

You're the one who is being the Monday quarterback. You're forgetting that a split second response to the thug burst out of the back seat with a weapon is not much time at all to react.

Yes, I am. I even stated so in the very first sentence of my post.

As someone in law enforcement, I am happy that they survived the encounter. I also recognize several mistakes were made that could have been deadly for the Deputies.

The point of my response was to go deeper than just yay, bad guy dead. It is to look at the entire scenario and think about what actions were good and the one's that could have been done differently.

While we want to learn from our own mistakes, as we reflect, we also want to learn from the mistakes of others.

Your leading statement made it sound to me that you might be accusing others in the thread of Monday morning quarterbacking. Sorry. I’m glad that’s not what you meant.

This video shows that even with training, the instantaneous response to a potentially deadly action can lead to mistakes. No officer is perfect. And being a police officer is a difficult and dangerous job. Seems as every day passes, that job becomes even more dangerous.

Here's the conundrum: Keep firing until the threat is neutralized is 100% appropriate for feral gangbangers like this POS. Firing until threat is neutralized looks like an execution vis a vis philando castile the Minnesota cook. How to resolve??????

Could shoot failure drills with 2 or more to the chest and one to the head. The cameras may not pick up the upward movement for the head shot as being controlled being in the heat of the moment... but it is!

LOL, somehow I don't think that would hack it. I don't know the answer, I mean, how would you ever convince a Chicago metro cop anything but shoot until not twitching was appropriate?

This will prove a useful training video in the future. It shows how quickly a normal stop can turn deadly for an officer.

In the chaos of combat, they did commit some tactical mistakes.

They lost sight of their target, they turned their backs on the threat and fired at non-combatants.

Given the stress they were experiencing, it is understandable, however, it is something future training should address.

Overall, I’d give them a solid C+ overall and raise it to a B for surviving the encounter and giving him enough love to ensure would not threaten society again.

Give them medals and buy them drinks, they are now hero’s.
