Q code was the non ram air, R code was Ram air, otherwise the same engine - HP, Torque, etc.

Okay, I thought it was Ram Air and non after I typed it. SCJ was a package with a different rear gear I believe.

Yeah, that's right. SCJ required 3.91 or lower gears (and a few other pieces - special oil cooler, etc). When I had my 66 GT vert restored back in 2007, another guy had brought in a red 69 SCJ with 4.30 gears needing a resto but in pretty good shape overall. Think he was looking to sell in the low $20k region, wished I would've pursued further! Although, the shop owner said it ran out of steam around 100 mph due to that gearing, lol.

I had a 68' California Special that was totaled in a wreck at the end of my block one Saturday morning in August 2013.

I decided then that I would look for a newer GT500. I had pretty much settled that I would look for a 2012 convertible. Although my son kept telling me to look for a 2013 or 2014 to get the higher HP and the rest of the bells and whistles. One Sunday evening my son was on me to look for a 2014 and my wife said, to my surprise, "Why don't you go to the dealer and order what you want?" This was mid October and I was sure that no one had any allocations left. But you can sure bet we were at the dealer the next morning.

I walked into the dealer and told the first salesman that I wanted to see about buying a GT500. He was a little shocked and said he would check. He came back and said, your in luck, we just received our last allocation and we've ordered a red coupe. I said that I didn't want a red coupe, I wanted a white convertible. He went and checked again and said they think they may be able to change it. So I optioned it the way I wanted and a couple days later they had the DORA for my car. It was ordered in mid October and picked up the Friday before Thanksgiving 2013. So about five weeks total from order to delivery.

It's only got about 3200 miles on it at this time and I don't plan to ever sell it.

Maybe I shouldn't be surprised, I sold my 2011 after 7+ years of ownership. But then again, that sale didn't leave me with no GT500..

Still here!
Never plan on selling this beast.
Built the same week this dude was born so I hope it’s the first clutch he gets to release.
Almost at 8000miles.
Still fires me up every time I turn the key.
