Great video brother!
That is some mad skills you got there man. Seriously, bravo! Can't wait to see the finished product! Gonna be so nice.

And yes,.....the music is awesome! \m/
Thank you Tones! I sent the video link to the Mustang's to Fear folks. The admin person responded and said they were going to share it with everyone. Pretty cool.

Thank you for your comments on my skills. Greatly appreciated. I did a lot of studying and research before I began this project. Car broke in 2015 and I started the rebuild in 2020. So, I had 5 years to prepare.

Glad you liked the music. A friend of mine said he was air guitaring the whole time he was watching lmao. That's what I was hoping for. People getting in to the video while watching \m/.

Almost need to use Kickstart my heart as the song for the video. I like the color match in the inner fender well in the coating, great choice. I am glad to hear your dad was similar to mine in teaching attention to detail. That seems to be lost nowadays. Thanks for updating this every week, I am always looking forward to reading the progress

That's a great tune. I may use it when I create my engine compilation video.

Thank you for your feedback geoffmt! Really appreciate your comments. I'm glad you look forward to my Monday morning updates. To be honest, after I post up I always look forward to people's comments/opinions. I'm not looking for validation or anything. I just really enjoy hearing people's perspective. Even if people do not like something (i.e. music on the video or color) I'm good with hearing about it.

I just appreciate talking about my build, and comments like yours above is part of the enjoyment I get out of this build.

You have done most of what I want to do to a fastback. I would have to sell my scca ranger to start funding a project. There are SO many cool inspirational builds, and this is one of them. The Steve Strope martini build is one as well, along with anything Detroit Speed builds. I wish I had the energy and talent to do another project, instead I live vicarious through projects like yours. Looking forward to the first fire up video and burnout video!

You know it's funny you mention fastback geoffmt. My brother and my fabricator have both said that my build is great, but too bad it's not a fastback LOL. When I bought this car in 1989 I had the opportunity to by a fastback instead, but in my youth I liked the body lines of the coupe better. Even in my geriatric years (LMAO, no I'm not that old....YET), I still prefer the coupe.

I do appreciate the fastback. However, timing is everything sometimes. I could have made my coupe a fastback as there are videos on how to convert a coupe to a fastback with all the reproduction metal out there. However, since I had the car built in 2010 I didn't want to go back that far on my build. Converting my car to a fastback would basically amount to a ground up rebuild and I did not want to do that.

I could build a fastback later on, but it would have to be a "flip" project and after investing all these hours I don't think I could sell it in the end LOL.

It's funny how all the car guys know who the professionals are. I think Steve at Pure Vision is bad@$$. Detroit Speed builds the front suspension I really wanted, but at 7.5K it was WAY too expensive for my build budget.

Thanks again for posting up geoffmt. I really do enjoy these types of discussions.

Hello Everyone,

Well it was a very good weekend for me. I officially started reassembly.......

Started with the grommet on the firewall and then my brake lines.

Then moved on to my upper and lower control arms.

Next was the Spindale.

Continued reassembly. Everything is assembled as it should be. Everything is torqued to spec, hubs are greased and lock tight and cotter pins have been applied.

The only things that have "NOT" been completed are the outer tie rod ends have not been locked in place, as i need to verify the tires are straight, and the ball joints have not been greased yet.

Added the grommet to the support tubing to run my wires through.

Got my hubs greased and installed. Oh, I also removed the studs, put red lock tight on and torqued them down.

Got my rotors, calipers and adjustable coil overs installed. Note to all, when doing this make sure you have everything done before installing the part. I have bearing shims for my adjustable coil overs. I installed my passenger coil over and forgot to installed the bearing shims. Had to remove the coil over and install the bearing shims and then reinstall the coil over. It's no fun doing things twice LOL.

Here you can see the brake line installed and it clears all suspension components.

Got the rack installed too. Well, you probably already knew that since the outer tie rods were installed LOL.

Okay, on Sunday I "was" going to start on the engine, but I decided to clean up the garage and make more space for me to work on the reassembly process. In doing so I decided that since all the metal work is done and the majority of the painting is done I decided to unwrap the car.

Man, I felt like a kid on Christmas LOL. I forgot how good this paint job really is after it was covered in 3M welding protection paper for almost a year .....

This is what I started with Sunday morning.

And here she is unmasked. Wow, it's looking good. NOW I can see the light at the end of the tunnel LOL.

Needs a love button, along with the like. DAMN it’s looking great! Love the brakes and the accent color on the A-arms. The new brake lines look great behind the red coating. This car will look amazing in 20 years the way it’s been done! Although my preference is the fastback(because my dad had a 66 gt350) this coupe looks damn sexy. I have seen and watched a few coupes on a road course tearing it up and was impressed with all of them. Glad you are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, it reignites the fire and passion to get the last of it completed. I bet you are done ahead of your schedule

Thank you geoffmt! Yes sir, need a love button for that comment/feedback you provided right there. Very kind of you sir! You and @Grabber70Mach always provide amazing feedback!

Thank you for saying this car will look amazing in 20 years. I think that is one of the best compliments a builder can receive. Making a car look timeless is not an easy task. I think people try to use designs and products that are "in style" at the time of the build and that can date a car. I think using colors and design techniques that never go out of style is the way to go, but that's just my point of view.

I do have Cobra emblems embroidered into the front seats (got the idea from my Terminator). I do think that could date the car at some point. Most high end builders do not put logos or lettering into their interiors. So, I think that could date my car at some point in time, but that's an easy fix if I ever decide to have them removed. Besides, once the car is done this go round, I do want to have my interior upgraded and my trunk upholstered at some point in the future.

As they say, the car is never done LOL.

Okay everyone,

My step son moved out last week. Nothing bad. It was just time for him to be an adult and get his own place.

So, my wife and I are trying to figure out what to do with his room. Well, you know what my idea was? You guessed it. Mustang parts holding area LMAO!!!

My wife is not happy about it, but it gets my parts out of her living room and I can get some extra space in my garage to work.

This is only temporary. Once the car is done my wife will decide what she wants to do with the room.

However, I think every house should have a car parts bedroom LMAO!!!!

Our spare bedroom has a car theme to it. It was the wife's idea. Maybe this will plant the seed for your wife.

LOL, hopefully Bob, but I don't think she'll go for it. When we first met I had all my diecast cars displayed in my bedroom and when she moved in with me she hated it. The diecast in the bedroom that is LMAO!

She is already saying I'm trying to move the garage into the house LOL. She wants a spare bedroom for guests or a mini workout room. Maybe I can put some Mustang memorabilia up on the walls LOL.

Whats the finish on the bell housing? It almost looks polished/chrome, sorry if this has been addressed some where.
Hello Mike. No need to apologize my friend.

It is actually powder coated and I think it's called mirror silver. It is supposed to simulate a chrome finish, but it just looks like a very bright silver.

I've had my timing chain cover, water pump, oil pan, bell housing and my sway bar powder coated in this color.

Thanks for the question Mike. I appreciate the interaction sir.

Pictures usually don't do things like that justice but it looks chromish from what I can see. The previous owner of my falcon painted the aluminum bell housing chrome and it looked terrible lol. I sprayed it Aluminum with KBS Motor Coater when I was doing my freshening up.

Amazing Glenn. I believe you're starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Such a nice build, you should be very proud, I know I would be.

Thank you Chris. Yes sir, I believe I can see the light at the end of the tunnel LOL. I don't like to pat myself on the back, but I do feel proud of what I have been able to accomplish. Especially since a lot of the things I did on this car I did for the first time (welding, metal work, body work and blending paint so far). I still need to see if I can figure out how to wire up my EFI system and get it running. So, I still have a few things to learn.

Thank you Mike! I hear you. Some people do not know how to spray aluminum or chromeish paint. You cannot lay it down like a normal color. I have learned that with those bright silver paints you have to use a fogging technique to get it to lay down right. Otherwise it will look blotchy or dull if you just spray it and lay it on too thick.

Thank God for powder coating now. I didn't have to worry about spraying the aluminum paint this time around LOL. By your reaction I feel my powder coater got it right :D. You have a good eye for detail and finding things in pictures my friend.

LOL I have an eye because I usually do things wrong so I try to learn from others. Its a nice project and I'm sure you're getting eager to have it on the road again. I finally just got the oil leak stopped on my brand new 331 in my falcon (It was the 1 piece rear main.....ERRR!) and I'm so pumped to drive it I think I'm going to put the Terminator in storage for a bit.

I need to dig back into your thread now so I can see what EFI you're planning as you can see from my sig all my stuff is running EFI.
