I had an alignment done and the suspension checked out. Then I finally had time to adjust the axleback exhaust pipe that wasn't squared up, and I serviced the blower. That blower oil was NASTY!

Last week, I finally made it to the track. Took the cobra down for an easy pass. Blew the seal on the old journal bearing at the end. Decided to retire the old girl after 10 years.
Today finished up fab work on the new turbo. Waiting on bigger injectors to start on the tune next. View attachment 1704238View attachment 1704240

That placement is cool, and sneaky. Any issues with oil drainback? Are you running a scavenge pump?

I was going to go with the standard behind the radiator location for my Fairmont but that spot would be perfect for keeping it a sleeper.

Never had a drain back issue. I run 2 return to the oil pan. Drain off the turbo to a tee, one line to scavenge pump to oil pan and another line to oil pan (no pump). Secondary line there just incase the scavenge pump fails or forget to turn on. Oil still has a way to pan.
Like the setup better than stuffing everything in the engine bay. Lot less bends need to be made. More bends, more friction on the air going in. Plenty of room to work on stuff without taking a bunch off. Less stuff needed to be move also.

Only down fall with the location is tire size. wont fit a regular tire. With a skinny, just barely rubs on the 4" exhaust pipe at full lock. About an 88mm is the limit for spacing.

Finally decided to install a new clutch, these race ramp pedestals worked out really nice.

Went with the DYAD. Clutch install itself went well. Hardest part was removing the starter with having long tubes. I just need to change over the input shaft before I start the break in period.

Any more pics with that Saleen wing? Looks pretty good from the rear.

That's a good idea with the secondary drain line.

Hmm...I'll have to take it into consideration. I was going to run an 88mm and it's primarily going to be a street car, so full size tires (though probably nothing over 225s) would be a must. Then again I was also eager to just use off the shelf parts for this build rather than fabricating everything like I did with my Mustangs...

@TP03 -
Those Race Ramps are nice! Which model/size are those? Do you just jack the car up and slide those under the tires?

I’m not sure on the exact model but the size is the 12” tall I believe.
I had to walk the car up to that height with jack stands which was a bit sketchy but I don’t plan on using the pedestals that often. I mainly bought them for installing subframe connectors but decided to use them for the clutch as well.

That car looks amazing for the mileage, good to see your enjoying that beautiful ride.
I learned about angles from the Instagram "models". The clear on the front fender is lifting as well as on the roof in a couple spots. And the front bumper is in need of work. But I still love it. I'm hoping to start working towards a new paint job now.

I would be just as excited if I got to drive a 2000 R a very short distance. It's an amazing Mustang Cobra for sure.

I've known him over 10 years and was the first time I even sat in it, was not expecting to get to take it for a ride but definitely did not turn that offer down! If I can collect enough cans along the side of the road maybe I can have it in my garage someday lol

That is one short drive that you'll never forget. I almost got to ride in one many moons ago. There was a Pro Mod shop not far from me, and the owner had a 2000 R. Almost got a ride, but "almost" doesn't count. LOL. I remember walking around the 'R' and my head was screaming "I want to drive this SO bad".

Finished upgrading the wiring for my battery relocation to all 0/1. Starter, alternator, Grounds, and ran a ground from battery to engine block now. No more hot start issues. Can drive the car and shut it off without worrying if she will start or not.
