The coupe is officially out of the storage unit for good! Time to do a little work.

Started to take it apart for fresh paint

Is that hood cutout stock? Or was it added to accommodate an intake or something? I haven't seen an air cleaner like that, even on a 2.3T.

Also I wish I knew why all these other four eyes look good, but I look at mine and it looks terrible. Part of it might be being a notch.

Yes it is cut out stock. This is also the stock engine, stock air cleaner, engine is a stock 2.3T.
And it is a notch to. Can't imagine your 4-eye not looking good as a notch.

I'll be damned. I've seen the old carbed NA 2.3s with the air cleaner there, but I always thought the early carbed 2.3Ts had the intake and filters near the passenger front corner like the EFI ones. I never knew the early ones had the turbo on the cold side. That's crazy.

Looks like she is sleeping in style!
Be glad you had your floor done when you did, the price has really gone up.

Feels great having them in a nicer place. And very little too no dust on them! Having them at my garage or storage unit would accumulate a coat of dust.

Damn wasn't aware that prices went up. But not surprised as everything else is.

I am looking forward to being in your shoes. My building is dried in and waiting on the floor. Can't wait.
Scott that's awesome, your shop is massive compared to mine.

I look forward to seeing pictures of it once the floor is done.

Daily broke so I promoted the notch to daily. The notch has since gotten a boost leak and looks like it blew out the compressor seal on the turbo. I think it managed to foul a couple plugs from the sound/feel of it. No idea where to get a seal kit for an HE200.

Prior to that I got a good chunk of the exhaust fabricated on the four door fox. Anyone else struggle with the passenger side exhaust pipe and starter? Seems like if the starter is in you can't really get the nut on the stud for the exhaust flange, and if the exhaust is on it's a nightmare to get the top starter bolt in and started. Anyone else run into that? It's an 84 GT engine, stock manifolds, C5 transmission, stock starter.

What's the best adhesive/sealer for lens covers these days?
Back in the day we switched these things all the time but I guess there was enough factory sealant left on them there was never an issue.
I knew they were loose, but I almost lost the passenger side after about a 50 mile cruise. I did have luck with the drivers side using black Permatex but the other side is not sealed tight enough. I did pick up a tube of windshield sealant adhesive to try next. Anything else?
