I ran a gear vendors in my 2001 7.3 350 dually with 4.10s and it worked great. empty or 1000 in the bed and I could still get near 20 MPG. Towing north of 12K and mileage went down closer to 11, but I have a heavy foot. With my 65 F100 with the pontiac, I used a 700R4 and that worked great, for low bucks as well. Problem you have is weight, and probably the 6.7 drivetrain is the way to go. I guess its how far you are going to go distance wise. DId you ever try a FAST or comparable system on the 482? Big oval shelby breather to cover it up and some pent roof valvecovers.

never tried different brand EFi. I have a GV C-6 for clone along with GT390 carb, 406 shorties, Mercury script aluminum covers, dropped beams for clone. Dad’s was red red so mine will be twin.

I had a GV in my 2001 F350 dually and it was fantastic. 7.3 of course. the new 6.7 makes 470/950 at tire bone stock. Hard to beat that with any gas.

f350 lariat LE with GV. Fantastic with my 32’ gooseneck. 22-23 empty with tune and typical 14-15 towing if I drove it nice. Towing it did not like high elevations.

Man, even the shifter schwin.
That carb is geting hard to find and throttle shafts are impossible. You have a mercury truck?
Have agreement to buy one in Canada but border patrol says no to crossing border.

these Mercury covers are for clone of my dad’s. Just a huge Mercury fan as have owned 3 different 1967 Cyclone, Caliente and Capri 427 “R” codes plus a ton of other comets and cyclones.
