So I'm done paying $48 for 16 Gillette cartridges. Current state of corporate politics aside, that's ridiculously expensive. So I just bought an old school safety razor and a pile of double edge razor blades for about 25% less than the cost of those 16 Gillette refills. This is what I bought:

So far, I like this set up better than cartridges. Not only is it a fraction of the cost, I feel it gives a closer shave. I selected the above products based on the reviews, so I'm not married to that particular handle or blades. I'm happy with them, but I'm sure there's even better options out there.

It also doesn’t pull the hair up and cut it at the root. No more ingrown hairs was a blessing...amazing how it feels like a closer shave to boot.

I use the same thing, granted I rock a beard. So I trim it every month or so and clean up my neck with a safety razor every now and then.

When I got it, we ordered like an extra 100 blades for cheap (American or German made only, the Chinese ones cut like a dull beaver). I would have 70 left but my wife is super good at dropping things into the toilet.

I haven’t shaved with a razor in over 5 years.

I also look like a red-bearded amish guy if it gets too long.

Hair clippers with no guard is all I do. Maybe that’s why my wife has been such a turd recently.

Once you get the hang of that get a slant razor, they cut much smoother.

This alum block is the best I've found. It's cut from a solid block rather than pressed.

I like Astra Superior Platinum and Israeli Crystal Super+ blades. Westcoastshaving.com has sampler packs so you can try out various blades. I prefer Shark and Feather blades in my straight razor. Going with a shavette or true straight razor is an even bigger leap in comfort and closeness. Here is my kit:

Dollar shave club here. I think it’s less than $10 a month for 8 heads. Does the job for me. The girlfriend likes them too, for her legs and what not.

I use nothing. My wife says real men have beards. So I had to try and grow one.

I have a crappy beard going also. I shave the neck sometimes. Most of the time I’m using trimmer for that too. Lol
