This vid is mainly for West coast, but hopefully a sign for the rest of the country. Lumber prices are insane right now. My nephew was going to build a new house and almost pulled the plug on it.
Lumber prices are ridiculous. Was going to build a new house this year, and lumber has gone up $40k since I got my first bid in July.
I'm in plumbing wholesale and the price of PVC pipe and fittings is way up. Water heaters are way up with another increase coming. Basically everything we sell has had a significant increase but especially anything plastic. Getting the mfgs to deliver a full PO is a nightmare.
Can someone give me their opinion on why the sudden spike? The last hurricane didn't cause a spike here in Houston like this. I can't remember the last spike. Why?
Not to start a political battle and point fingers, but it most likely started with the trade war started from the Trump administration. I only say that because about 3 years ago, there was a house I had previously inquired about and when I was ready to have it built, I was told from the builder that the house had gone up another $40K to build because of the increased material costs from the trade war.Can someone give me their opinion on why the sudden spike? You most likely don't really know what you are talking about...Not to start a political battle and point fingers, but it most likely started with the trade war started from the Trump administration. I only say that because about 3 years ago, there was a house I had previously inquired about and when I was ready to have it built, I was told from the builder that the house had gone up another $40K to build because of the increased material costs from the trade war.
