I asked on here a couple months ago about BMW quality and got quite the array of answers and information.

Since that time I have spoken to a local BMW mechanic with an excellent reputation and was happy to answer all my questions. One thing he pointed out was issues with the 4 cylinder motor and the 8 cylinder motor. Opt for the in-line 6. That I was already convinced of, so he confirmed what I knew. Said they are fairly reliable, no better, no worse than anyone else. We talked about servicing it regularly, which is never a problem for me. He said he starts seeing them as they get to 100K. I haven't driven 100K in total over everything I have driven in at least the last 8 years. So this car alone - long way down the road to hit that point.

So I thought about 2 door versus 4 door - opted for 2 door, I have a 4 door truck and the wife has a 4 door SUV.

So it brought me to this - 2021 BMW M440i xDrive. This one has a few extras including the wheels. The front end is new and there are people on each end of hate and love. I like it. This is it sitting on the dealer lot. Since it has been tinted and ceramic coated.

Still trying to figure out how everything works. So far, I am enjoying it and don't miss the Mustang.

New front end reminds me of an Alfa Romeo...... in an uglier way.... love the interior tho lol

I had a 2009 335i years ago, biggest issue's I ever had was the electronic water pump and the oil gasket leak. Thats all. Bought the car with 28k miles and drove it to 96k miles before I got rid of it. Car would be run with a mixture E85 at times and a JB4 "tune". So not too bad, I enjoyed it.

Will say, the new car 50k warranty is the best I ever had with any car, they will change literally ANYTHING. I would get new windshield wipers every time it went for an oil change (got it with the car for 3 years, came out similar than doing it myself). There was some lil cosmetics with the car when I got it CPO, leather seat cracking, lights housing were slight yellow, steering wheel had peels, AC vents had two broken clips, etc. All was changed, no questions asked and was also given a loaner. Never had those issues duplicated again, guessing previous lease owner didnt take good care of it.

OP...it is a perfect ride! Until you drive an M-BMW no one understand how amazing the car is. Hope you enjoy it very much! I miss my 09 M3. It was a beast when I lived at Ramstein, Germany. House was only a few minutes from the autobahn. Loved every moment behind the wheel.

M4 M3 uses the same grill why would the aftermarket not fit the M3?

It goes back to the old BMW...

Some things are best left in the past.

Also, I want to clarify that I'm not bagging OPs decisions. Nor am I doubting the capability and performance of the M4.

I just cannot FATHOM how BMW exec's compared last years model to the new design and said "Yup, that looks way better".

If Ford came out and said the S650 chassis is going to be inspired by the Mustang II design cues, I'd absolutely call a hideous mustang a hideous mustang.
