Am I crazy? I’m not seriously shopping but if a business goes through in 2 or 3 months I may be interested in a sporty family saloon.

RedEye: 20x11 wheels 797hp looks great fits 5 comfortably, looks great, but it’s a big car, turning on a dime won’t happen.
G80 M3: Over delivers with its currant stats(seeing 3.6/11.6), steering is dialed, amazing grip, rail like handling, carbon buckets, decent size back seats, and it has a clutch(my main draw). But front end is bold(can be hidden a bit with dark paint) and rest of styling may break it.

Both about $80k plus minus.

Thoughts?
We’ve had an E46 and an E90 M3. They were handsome cars. The snout on the new version is just hideous. Refinement on the BMW will easily surpass the Dodge, though.

That front bumper is even worse than the first Gen 6 Camaro refresh.
The darker colors disguise decently. Haha
The one I would choose is the dark blue and orange interior like the last picture.

This may be one of the few times I’d happily run a front tag while I simultaneously pray the aftermarket makes a revised front cover and grill option.

Might as well get a huge license plate to hide the horror of that mug. It’s like BMW had to out-ugly Alfa Romeo’s sedan....
Dude, all 3 of those pics have front license plates. They cover up how bad it really looks
I disagree. While I agree the grill is bold and draws attention the front license draws the eyes straight to the huge grill. Without it and a dark color it’s not as bad.

The new s58 is stout. It's making a lot of steam with a tune. I'd easily choose the M3 over the hellcat. I have no doubts 3.6 and 11.6 are conservative. People are running those times stock in the X3M.

Go test drive both. If you can't find a new M3 to test drive, test drive a X3M. Same engine and drivetrain. Then imagine that in a lighter car with an updated interior and uglier exterior.

That BMW is the ugliest damn new vehicle this side of a Silverado HD. Actually it makes the HD look "normal".
I'm sure it is a fun car but I just couldn't get over the looks.
If you want something fun, 4 door, and ugly in a good way get or at test least drive a Panamera GTS.
If you have to have stick and 4 door get the previous gen M3.

Been there, I can comment on this. I have had 5 four door, fast sedans (2 S4's, and 3 M3's the last being a 15 F80). I was on a crash course for a G80. Im fortunate, our kids are now 16 and 20, so the rear doors are no longer relevant. SO this allowed me to deviate, and was able to trade in the F80, for a M2 CS (2 door).

But on topic for comparing the 2? I would totally go G80 based on your presented options. The front end is not attractive, but the rest of it is nice. This car is HUGE, it is now the same size as a E39 M5. Something else to consider, the dealer experience. BMW still offers included maintenance, and a loaner car. May not be a big deal initially, but now having bought or leased 12 BMW's, and contrasting it to the service experience of a Super Duty, it is something you will grow to appreciate very quickly.
