Not sure that is going to happen with this chip bullshit. Some are now saying GT500 production may end up being half (or less) than what it was in 2020.
I doubt half...but MUCH less than originally planned for MY21.

So the latest on my cfhp optioned car. Today Brattleboro Ford in VT called and informed me the car I order would no longer be available at msrp and if I was still interested had to caught 5k over. The kicker is I had called the dealer and ask to speak to the GM about buying a GT500 at sticker. He assured me that they weren't "that type of dealer" and I would be able to order and buy at sticker. 5k over is not bad, what gets me is the blatant lie from the start...WTF

Honestly its not a surprise. I bet they had to pay extra to get that allocation. They did not have CFHP or CFTP allocation when they offered you that gt500 at MSRP.

I later found out that yes Brattleboro Ford only had one allocation which they had to pay to acquire . The 5k was to recoup that allocation cost . The reality is 5k is reasonable in this market and would have been easy to swallow had the dealer presented it better. I wouldn't want the dealer to loose or not make their expect money on the sale of the car.

As of today, Ford has issued 1675 2021 GT500 VINs and they all have scheduled build dates. I don't think they would be issuing VINs if they didn't intend to build the cars.

...

Every dealer who signs up for the program gets one car. They pay $2,000 to be in the program and they get at least 1 GT500 guaranteed.

Nick,
Have you received any clarification on any special allocations for the CFTP, CFHP and Paint options. I see a lot of base cars with painted stripes and very few CFHP cars.

No, I haven't. I saw the same thing. Not sure why the sudden 180 degree turn on that one.

Not at all. Must have allocation

Absolutely! My reference is to not requiring a Golden Ticket, (or special sub-allocation), for CFHP or Painted Stripes for 2021 GT500. These are optionable to base model orders. All 2021 GT500s require both prior registry with Ford and an allotted allocation, except non-allocated VIP cars.

Email from my sales rep in February.

Clearly your Zone is maxed out on CF orders for the time being. This is not the case in many other Regions. While your letter is dated February 9, my CFTP was "Schedule to the Week" on January 12 and "Sent to Plant" on February 24.

Word on the street is Ford will only be producing 2500-3000 2021 GT500s due to an Industry-Wide Semi-conductor Chip shortage. Buyers are advised to shop around other Regions.

My local dealership has ordered three 2021 CFTP cars, two VIP and one for stock. They have a total of 16 Allocations, provided that Ford builds that many due to the Commodity issue. And they have just received 18 2020 GT500 units from wholesale, which will be sold in addition to the 36 units previously sold.

Blah, blah, blah.

You stated that ANY base order can be spec'd with the CFHP and/or painted stripes. That is 100% incorrect.

My CFTP is getting built next Monday.

The CF non-schedule that week was for EVERY zone.

You are reading way to much into this, my friend. Don't take it personal, we're just having a conversation here.

  • Point is, anyone can order an allocated 2021 GT500 Base Model with optional CFHP or Painted Stripe, provided the dealership has at least a base allocation.
  • As you know, when an accepted order is classified as "Unscheduled/Clean", it is considered buildable with no Commodity Issues.
  • As you also know, Regions pace acceptance of orders that are "Sent to Plant", not necessarily accepting all of your allocations at one time.
Scheduling occurs throughout the MY to account for pace, capacity, and commodities. So acceptance of your current CF orders are delayed, there is always the next week. I just got off the phone with the GSM of my local dealership and he states that he does not have any current GT500 Commodity Restrictions.

So I don't know what else to say, other than I am sure you are as just as excited to receive your 2021 GT500 as I am!
