I called my salesman yesterday to have winter tires installed on my X3M prior to delivery.

He tells me they will $1862 installed.

I replied: Look, the only thing cheap in a BMW is the owner. I can get same tires from Tire Rack delivered for $1290. Can you do any better on pricing?

Nope. He wasn't impressed with my statement. lol. I think I offended him.

Apparently I also have to watch a video on the proper use of a turn signal too? What's up with that shit?

Audi and BMW are definitely DIY maintenance/repair cars.

Granted my Audi is 19 years old now with ~230k miles on her..and I wrecked the Wife's BMW ~5 years ago..still..

We have/had a 2002 Audi A4 3.0 MT6 and a 2002 BMW 330XI. Both are/were quality vehicles that ran like new upon each repair. Not all car makes can boast this.

But these cars do not tolerate not being fixed in a timely manner and are designed twice as complicated as need be.

You definitely need to do your research and be selective about what model you buy used or new.

The e46 and e39 cars are absolute gems. RWD, manual, big straight 6 or a v8 available, motorswaps from m cars are easy peasy and the engines are as reliable as any Mustang. They are plentiful at junk yards, easy to work on and ride great to boot. Oh and cheap too, the prefect daily for an enthusiast. Can’t kick a Hyundai rear end out sideways bruh

Bro. You talkin about cars from like 20 years ago. I don’t know all that cucked up bmw nomenclature but those had a soul. These new models might as well have been made in woohan. They got nuthin.

honestly, if this bothers you, you should cancel delivery of the car.

If there happens to be any BMW salesperson on here, PM me. General questions about buying the brand. Thanks in advance.

I have a friend who works at a dealer, if you have any cars in mind feel free to PM me, if you have any CPO cars on your mind my friend can pull warranty reports.

My mother has a 2015 X5 with the N55 and its been more reliable than my mustang or my dads 16 f150. Thats not to say every new bmw is going to be perfect, I've seen a lot of horror stories. The N55's and B58's when maintained seem to be very reliable though. The 4cyl cars often blow up because people do 15,000 mile oil change intervals and they blow TF up.

I appreciate the additional responses.

I drive a Ford diesel truck - I know about high dollar upkeep and expensive repairs - not that I am looking for more of the same.

I appreciate the offer, I may take you up on it.
I know several people that have different levels of BMW's and most talk well of them. Those with models similar to what I am looking at seem to have very little problems with them and seem fairly satisfied with them. Yeah, there are definitely problem cars out there, that is true for every make and model.

Don't be scared by reliability and big ticket failures. The newer BMWs seems to be very reliable. I had an e46 in the past, and it too was very reliable. I sold it with 130k miles and never once had it on jackstands--the same cannot be said about my Terminator.

Recently, we've had an M2, M3 and now X3M. The M2 and M3 are now gone, but they were really solid cars while in our possession. If you're looking for a sports car, I'd really consider an M2 with the N55. That engine is very reliable and so is the drivetrain. S55 is also reliable, but seems to have some concerns with the engine going out of time (rare, but talked about a lot, especially if modded).

Good advice to stick with the 6 cylinder.

The only thing worse than a bmw is the people that drive them.

It’s always the same. A wannabe rich prick who thinks his shit don’t stink and that he’s gods gift to this earth.

They are junk.

Tough crowd, hahaha

Do yourself a favor and get a Lexus

Funny enough, the one Lexus we owned was a total nightmare. I'm sure that can be said about any brand, but man what a POS my wife's IS 250 was...

In a stoplight race, I'd put my money on the X3 M over a GT500 7 days a week and twice on Sunday.

The X3M will surprise a lot of people, for sure. The launch sucks in the X3M because of a way too conservative torque management tune, but 10' out and the thing is a rocket.

I just settled a deal on an X3M Competition package last night!! lol.

I took an X4 M40 out for a test drive. That engine sold me. The sound and soul of it was awesome. The X3M will be even better.

Unfortunately it's a company car so now we have to wait for Enterprise Fleet Services to do their bit. Which is painful to watch. I'm not a very patient person for inefficiency. lol.

But it will have a Berger tune ASAP. lol.

Nice! I have an X3M. I needed a better fit than a sports car, as we have moved to the mountains with lots of gravel roads and I needed something that could haul mountain bikes and other toys. The X3M is a blast, you'll love it.

My last daily was a leased 2016 740. I was elated the day I handed the keys back. More electrical problems than I could possibly list in this post. I will never buy another BMW.
