I recently purchased a 96’ Cobra with P-1SC that had shredded a belt. I immediately noticed the Procharger pulley was out of alignment with that alternator.

I removed the Procharger to clean it up and check pulley alignment on the other pulleys and the hardware doesn’t seem to match the installation guide, the installation guide also seems to be wrong. I’d love a PM if you have this kit and would be willing to help me sort it out a bit... there are zero install videos on YouTube etc.

UPDATE: The tech at Procharger checked my serial number and advised my Procharger was sold as part of a 99-01 kit and thinks that the problem. However, it gets trickier... from what I can tell the timing cover on the 99’ Cobra is the same as the 96-98 Cobra and 03-04 Mach 1. Only the 01’ has a different timing cover with a different tensioner an additional idler and different belt routing.

The tech also advised that the 96-98 had a different serpentine belt number than the 99-01... how can that be when the 99-01 installation guide has different sections for 99 owners and 01 owners, and each has a separate serpentine routing?

If anyone has a 96-98 Procharged Cobra or a 99’ Procharged Cobra I could really use some pictures of your bracket installed and the ATI idler. I can literally find zero step by step threads or videos on YouTube that show the installation.

96-99 Cobras all have the same 3 bolt tensioner timing cover. The 01 Cobra and 03/04 Mach 1's have the same single bolt tensioner timing cover.

I'm pretty sure the bracket for the single bolt tensioner won't bolt on to the 3 bolt tensioner. The blower itself is the same between the cars.

My timing cover is F5LE-60080-AB... and has the three bolt tensioner. I’ve also confirmed I have the correct Procharger Bracket which is the same for 96-99, only 01 was different as like you said it uses the single bolt tensioner.

Here’s a picture of my issue:

The tensioner sticks out far enough that the bottom stud requires a spacer to keep the bracket and pulley from touching the engine. This isn’t outlined in the 96-98 installation guide or the 99 installation guide.

Is the tensioner spaced out? It doesn't look like it's sitting as close to the cover as it should.

So I checked the casting number and verified its the correct tensioner. The visual inspection didn't see any spacers, and if I could get it closer to the block the pulley would bottom out on the timing cover.

Please don’t report this 5 times for duplicate posts. One is plenty with a explanation. I now have to clear 5 reports. Thanks

If I could simply delete the post through edit like any other forum I wouldn’t have had to report it, I’d the forum had registered that it had posted there wouldn’t have been five duplicates either.

Anyways I’m sorry it created extra work for you.

Sorry if I'm asking repetitive questions. I'm just trying to make sure I'm fully understanding.

So without the spacer on the stud on the left the bracket hits the tensioner? Is the tensioner bolt not lining up with the notch in the bracket?

Side note, keep an eye on the oil level in the blower. When mine started looking that dirty the seal around the input shaft was shot.

How hard is it to change that seal? I pulled the dipstick and it had oil on it and it didn’t appear dirty. I ordered a new bottle of oil, so I’ll check and see how much comes out when I change it.

I think I figured out my bracket issue after a week of working with a tech. The left stud does require a spacer that is briefly mentioned in only one sentence in the install guide and is not visible on any of the diagram pictures.

I'm pretty sure you can get that seal off without pulling the blower apart. The one behind the impeller is a different story though. It's been a long time for me, but there should be write ups available online.

I've been trying to look up youtube videos for step by step guidance.

I can get a press at Harbor Freight, and everyone advises you should do it yourself due to the simplicity of the internal setup and the financial savings... but I've never done anything like this before. Benefit is I could replace the input and output seals for probably $100-$150 including press, whereas Procharger I would likely be looking at $450 and however long turn around time is... Con is I've never done anything like this.

Since the previous owner broke a belt, and I know the blower pulley wasn't correctly aligned maybe I could get away with removing the pulley and like you said just replacing that seal?

I pulled my D1 apart and it is pretty simple. But you need to pay attention to the placement of the slinger. Bad things happen if it's put in the wrong place.

I tried replacing the seal on the impeller side and didn't have good luck. It was some kind of special seal that I think I had to buy from Procharger. Someone probably has an aftermarket part number by now.

I would be appreciative of some detailed pictures of how the passenger side Ignition Coil is supposed to attach to the bracket.
