Another vote for C6. Based on your wishlist, go for a C6 GS. If you don't go widebody, you will regret the decision if you don't.

I have a c6z and love it. Interior is trash but the driving experience more than makes up for it. c5zs are equally bad ass. If you go c6z make sure you get one that has the heads done (as i am sure you are aware).

Keep your eyes peeled on the classified section of the corvette forum. There is a very nice H/C/I SCd cyber grey c6z listed for 36 at the moment. That is a monster car at a great price.

Bringatrailer also has very good pricing as the blow dried assholes on that site are too focused on bmws and porsches.
A super nice c5z just sold for super cheap and there is an anniversary version up right now.

If you think C6 interior is trash, you should spend some time in a C5.

I think you are on the right track considering the LS3 C6, 08+....motor is damn near bullet proof. You can throw quite a bit of boost at a stock shortblock too. If its in the budget I'd look for a grandsport, has the C6Z looks, dry sump LS3 if you get the 6spd manual and try to get one with F55 optioned mag ride...

Holy crap, did you actually find that car, or is that just a wish list? If you found it, post a link so we can look (unless you're worried that one of us will buy it, haha).

I had a 2008 (top car in my avatar pic), tuned LS3, awesome car. Drove like a Toyota Camry, very comfy.
Noooo havent bought yet. Will be a while and I gotta figure out how far I want to go with my GT500.

The C6 LS3 Auto will be my goal, but I wont say no to an LS2 or 01+ C5 if it's a very attractively priced car.

Just needs to be LS powered and can accept the GM flex fuel sensor.

That flex sensor can be retrofitted to any of them.

.......... Im almost even thinking about shelving the build plans for the GT500 and going with a take-off TVS, trinity injectors and boost-a-pump and calling her good for now. Ok, Ill put in the timing system and cams I got for it too, lol
TVS is titties. soooooo much instant boost. just screams and screams all the way to 6000. You ever think about a wet shot? nitrous is also #titties

Just watched some install videos of how literally easy it is to install one. Honestly, Ford's an asshole. GM literally put into every Corvette the pin in the ECU for the Flex Sensor, and also provided the stoich tables on every ECU...

Converting a 07-12 GT500 to ethanol is such an expensive pain in the ass its ridiculous.

Lol, I regret selling the blower I bought off you. Ive thought about nitrous a time or two. Probably stick with the take off 2.3 TVS and save the nitrous for the Vette if I get one. :D

We had a brand new c5 z06 off the lot in 2002... first year of the 405hp ls6.

That mother ****er absolutely flew bone stock, was loud (minimal factory sound deadening and Ti mufflers) and had enough torque to flatten your chest. You could induce massive sweeping drifts in the middle of the city street just by lightly applying the throttle. Not joking. Car was insane and just a hair over 3000 lbs.

Christ... I miss that car a lot and WILL have another.

I’d imagine a c6z would take that experience to another level BUT

for me... I’ll take a nicely worked over (heads/cam) ls6 c5z making around 475-500whp and call it a day. God damn that would be bad AF and enough power to runs easy 10s at 130.

More subjective, but I love the look of the FRC too.

Whats more impressive is that it was still a 5.7L. I get it.. I totally get it too.

I still think about it, though. I like the softer lines of this over the sharper/angular look of the newer ones.

Being so light, makes these C5-7 cars great performers. I love my GT500, but she's a big girl. When it comes to performance, weight is more important than HP. Unless you are only a drag racer, racing on prepped tracks, on a slick, those 4000+ lbs really hold you back. Imagine a 3100 lb curb weight S197 GT500 with 650 rwhp ...
