But with a cwp, there is no waiting period. Can walk in, slap the cwp on the counter and walk right out with the weapon

Even with a CCW I’ve had to wait till the next day twice because the background check system is so over run

Question for readers IF there is a gun ban put in place- and I think it would be an expost facto law to those who already legally bought such- would you relinquish it to feds? I believe with the number of ARs and other like configurations, if people get their back up could exceed the largest militia in the world. Our own revolution and civil war was fought over one sides ability to control all. Would you register what has already be registered? All my purchases have gone through FFL and BATF has a record somewhere. What if the feds just banned ammo and reloading equipment..Aside from putting a lot of people out of work- something they don't mind..

I've seen this gun ban thing before and Bush let it expire..But how do you stand today on such efforts being almost a certainty now. As many have turned their back on Trump- I have NO faith in the supreme court! By the way I am selling and have sold most of my collection.

Well if NY is any indication with the SAFE act that basically banned a whole slew of weapons in common use, large scale non compliance, and no boots on the ground going door to door to enforce it. Most of the upstate sherriffs have stated they refuse to enforce it. So you've got a whole lot of "illegal" weapons that will slowly get weeded out little by little as people die, get reported, end up on higher ups radar, etc...

As far as ammo around these parts, I haven't seen anything common since February, and lately even the less common or well stocked ammo like 10mm, 6.5, or 12ga is gone. You can still get reasonable quantities of .22lr surprisingly. Most of the weapons display cases are bare. Looks like it's tough getting your hands on parts too.

There’s always going to be a black market. Let’s not forget that. The war on drugs has been going on for 40 years and finally the government gave in and just started making drugs non criminal. Look at Portland

I’m just playing devils advocate and assuming they are playing by the rules. In reality, I don’t believe that for a second

I don't think there were any rules in 1776 and the war of independence and there certainly are no rules for enemy combatants overseas.

I’m going this week to get my CWP. I’ve been heavily slacking in this department. Still not sure of that would expedite the background check to walk out with the weapons?

A CCW usually bypasses state mandated waiting periods (I dont know if all states are that way). The other factor is the national background check system - since Covid started there have been so many purchases they are way behind every day. If you're not making a purchase first thing in the morning the que may be so long it doesnt get processed until later that day or even the next day.

Must be different state to state.

I know in at least two states that if you have a cwp issued by them you bypass the background check because you've already had one (to get the cwp).

Also, you need to make sure your county is a Shall issue county, as opposed to the worse May Issue. If you have a liberal, leftist elected Sheriff they may elect to make CWP permits May Issue. Meaning, you better have a damn good reason for wanting a concealed permit.

Each state is different- some mandate attending class(es) before permit. Time is not a luxury we have right now. I sent my brother and sister to probate court today to renew their permit...Since they're years out of date they have to go through process over again. And for you travelers DO NOT GO THROUGH SOUTH CAROLINA as they have no reciprocity law with any state.

I always used to tell the old guys, “man, I wish I could’ve got X gun/ X ammo at that price when you bought it. I must be old because I’ve turned into that guy who’s heard that for myself now.

Where are you getting that info from? I go to SC with my NC permit a few times a year. According to the SC website and NC website they have agreements with each other, and basically the rest of the south

You are right, I had to check. If you are Utah registered you can Ccw in over 31 states.

Louisiana and Texas are the only 2 that are like that if I remember correctly. The others dont care about CCWs

I know in Virginia it doesn't matter if you have a Concealed Carry Permit, you buy a gun, they will still do another background check on you.
