I am sure you all know by now I am on year and a half with my project cobra. But the reason I am starting to loose interest is because I haven’t seen the car since September 2019 when I moved from Texas to Colorado. My ex father in law took up the project last March 2020, and got the car running again.
But lately I have been purchasing the last parts for it for him to install(timing chains, guides, oil pump, ac compressor, etc) I even am willing to pay him but it’s not the same anymore for me. I just don’t feel that passion anymore like I once did to complete it.

Is it just me or this happens to all of us at one point.

Sorry for the rant fellas I just figured I’d ask since most us have been on here since the early 2000s not saying we are old just seasoned

I think everyone either gets overwhelmed or just tired and uninterested as certain points in a build. I’ve been there several times. Once it gets close and then ultimately finished, there is an extreme sense of pride when you get your first compliment in a car you actually built.

I understand the feeling. I left my 02 saleen in a garage in plainville Connecticut when I moved to the boston area. Went 3 years without seeing in. So bad to the point when cleaned up the apartment one day it took a minute to remember what the keys went to. The chassis sat collecting dust all that time simply because i did not have a garage where i am. I moved on, bought cobra project, a 15 gt to play around with, and lost all motivation to finish the saleen. Then moving day came, I found a storage garage a mile from me, grabbed a trailer and went to Connecticut to get the car. It all came back. It's just and out if sight, out of mind thing, even tho I still am not done with either of the projects now, I actually go down to the garage just to visit the cars, come back home and order more for the builds. I know I wont be done with either until I move further north into a house that I own with plenty of workspace, but certain priorities just take over. A project car doesnt have to be done in 1, 5 or 10 years, it just has to be done right.

and Jeffrey Epstein didn't kill himself.

Thank you for the kind words. I guess I got in over my head with this project that needed everything.
I wish I knew people here in Colorado that would help me do a weekend thrash once I get the car up here.

I think anyone who hangs on to these cars as long as we all did go through those ruts. I’ve lost and gained interest in my 04 several times over the years. I’m actually at the 50/50 point right now where I either want to make it more cruise enjoyable or just buy something else for enjoyment and let this sit until a later date.

I will say that once you actually finish it you’re going to be thrilled and wonder why you didn’t finish it sooner. That’s how I left after my blower swap and a bunch of other upgrades I did a couple years ago.

It tried to sell mine a couple of times, currently it’s out of sight out of mind. It’s over at the painters being neglected. Every stage of my build has taken way longer than it should that I don’t even care anymore. I got too much in it to really sell it and I would like to feel boost before I decide to sell it again lol

I really thought I would have it running in less than a year. Then a year turned into two now it’s three. I always wondered how people could have long projects and here I am lol

Where are you in Colorado? I'm just north of Colorado Springs.

My father-in-law always told me it's easier to keep motivation going on a project you can drive. You can have a lot of excitement about a build, but as it slows down and time and money become and issue that excitement fades. I'm guessing if you can at least get it running and to your current location the excitement will come back even if the build remains slow.
