I'm sure we've all had our share of cheap, rusty lug nuts.
I'm grabbing new wheels over the winter and the manufacturer (Cosmis) tells me they use tuner style lug nuts. I'd like to find a set of quality black tuner nuts.
I'm reading a lot of reviews and they all seem to say the color comes off easily, or they rust.
There's gotta be some others on here that have already made the search, what say you?

Have a couple sets from this company.

Lug Nut Comparison – McGard
I have McGard as well and have been happy with them. My Cobra actually has a set of McGard paired with Cosmis wheels. I had McGard on my STi as well.

As for rust, neither of my cars were really exposed to harsh weather with the McGards installed. The Cobra is stored in the winter and is rare to see rain. The STi used the stock wheels/lugs in the winter and I only had the aftermarket for one season.

Overall, I would buy them again for the way I use them. Both sets of mine were black and they come with their own specific socket and key (at least the style I bought did). I’m just careful taking the socket on and off, but I haven’t had any issue from normal road wear chipping them.

They were black, and the black color stayed on them?

Yes, so far so good. Like I said, neither were really in abusive environments though. The STi was daily driven for about 6 months (summer) and didn't have any issues. The ones on the Cobra have been on since 2017 as a nice weather weekend car.

Both sets I've had are the spline drive ones. I'm not sure how much of a difference that makes when it comes to wear and tear. Coming with their specific socket seems like it might be better when it comes to taking them on/off vs regular lug nuts - that's just a guess on my part though. I don't use an impact on them either as I think that beats lugs up a lot.

Don’t have any experience with black ones, but my McGard shanks are far superior to the other brand I have. All McGard products I’ve bought are good quality. (Prop/drive locks)

I have the Black Tuner McGard's on my Shelby. Never in salty environments, but I am constantly cleaning the brake dust off with spray cleaner. They still look like new! I also don't use an impact gun to remove or install the lug nuts.

I ran Mcguards on alot of cars. They are usually very good in corrosive environments and the abuse of impact wrenches.

I just wanted to update this thread.
I ended up with black McGard 8 spline lugnuts. Part #65340BK. This part # is for a set of 4 lugnuts, so I had to buy 5 packages and the 8 Spline key as well (Part #65300).

McGard DOES sell a kit which comes with 16 lugnuts, 4 locking lugnuts, and the proper keys, but I didn't want the locking lugnuts.

If you search for the 65340BK part # on eBay, you will find them for under $20/set. Maybe not everytime you look, but they pop-up frequently on there for sub $20.
