If you have a 2010 please answer a few questions for me since I am out of town and can't view mine.

Are the upper O2 sensors located in the exhaust manifold or the top of the mid pipe?

Are the lower O2 sensors located on the pipe below the cats or off the center of the cats towards the center of the vehicle?

Is there any resonator in any of the piping between the cats and the rear mufflers?

THANKS

Part number AR3Z-5F250-A, same on your car. Driver's side O2 sensor is on the exhaust manifold.

Thanks!! Not sure why Ford can't keep everything symmetrical. These 2014 pipes I just bought have the same setup only the downstream O2 sensors are below the CATs so I ordered extension cables.
I see that I still need to add a bung for the A/F on the drivers side. These appear to be heavy steel even though I thought the exhaust was SS on a 2014.

I also noticed that the top pipe on the 2014 is only 2.25 inches and the pipe after the cats is 2.75. The 2010 is probably 2.25 at the top pipe too and 2.5 at the bottom pipe. I was hoping for bigger opening at the top but it will have to do.

Do me a favor and take a picture of your mufflers for me so I can see the mounting bracket locations on them. A top view shot should be good. I believe the pipe connection to the over the axle pipe is the ball type socket.

The over the axle pipe to the mid pipe is a slip in. Does the over axle pipe slide inside the mid pipe or over it?

Thanks!

I just have the stock X pipe with the cats and the pipes that connect to the mufflers, no mufflers, those are on the car. Otherwise I would!

(Numbers 8 and 5 in that above diagram)

Good catch, overall the 13/14 pipe cat should flow slightly better. Not sure what you have for over the axle pipes, but going to the 11/14 over axel pipes will have the same 2.75 piping.

Neither. The OEM mid-pipe (item #5) and OEM OTA pipes (items #8) are the same diameter and are secured and sealed with OEM butt-joint band clamps (items #9), referencing the diagram in post #2.

Shut...that explains why those clamps are so expensive! Thanks.....I'll probably have to buy the Ford ones unless I can find good aftermarket ones.

Looking at the difference between the O2 locations on a 2010 and 2011+, I've wondered if the 2010 computer and O2's will read differently with the lower sensors in the pipe versus the cats. I honestly don't know, and the OP will have this scenario. Will it matter?

I'm sure it will read somewhat differently. Temperature reading would likely be different. Would it make much of a difference. Not really sure especially if you have an aftermarket tune.

I was wondering about that too but there are probably many 2010s out there with headers and cats below them wit O2 sensors after the cats so they would probably be encountering the same issue as me switching to the 2014/12 exhaust setup. So how did they handle this issue??? Anyone?? I may have to run this by a tuner since I am in the NAZI state of NY and need them to pass inspections every frickin year.

ANOTHER QUESTION......I have been looking at the pipe clamps between the mid-pipe and the over the axle pipes which butt up to the mid-pipes. Does this clamp simply tighten down on both of the pipes and that keeps them held together or does the clamp (the Ford factory ones) somehow wrap around the protruding knob near the end of the mid pipe. I don't understand the purpose of this extruding knob unless it is simply used to try to show you that the pipes are fully seated into the clamp. I see nothing on any aftermarket clamps that would make use of this knob.

Tightening down the band clamps secures the OTA pipes to the mid-pipe. The OEM band clamps have a safety latch that goes over the knob, which once engaged keeps the clamps from sliding rearward in the event that the clamp loosened up.

Okay....Thanks. I don't see that on the aftermarket clamps so I should probably get the ones from Ford.

I don't think anyone answered the question about resonators...

Do the stock 2010 (what I have now) or the 2011/2012 (what I am upgrading too) have resonators in the OTA pipe for any of these years?

I have the 2013/2014 factory H pipe, waiting for 2012 mufflers and ordered the Lethal OTA pipes while they were on sale. The Lethals have no resonators in the pipes and I am hoping the 2010 and 2011/12 models did not either. Otherwise I may have just added loudness and drone to my exhaust note.

Thanks

I had the Lethal OTA pipes and removed my factory ones on my '11.
I could not tell a difference with an O/R H, also from Lethal, factory mufflers.
Don't science fuk it
