Looking to run a 20x10 wheel in the rear. So I realize I could have my stock rear wheels widened but I would rather keep them as is. They are mint. I also realize I could buy 2 more OEM 20x9.5 wheels and have them widened. That would be a bit more costly. So I am wondering if anyone has any experience with AM's 2013 GT500 20x10 wheels? How is the quality? I am really hesitant because its coming from AM and they have really gone down hill at of late it seems. Plus, they are cheap which also makes me nervous as well.

Mustang 2013 GT500 Style Charcoal Wheel - 20x10 - Rear Only (10-14 All)

Also open to other options, opinions.

Side note: I actually really love the stock wheels which is unusual because i am more of a 5 spoke guy myself

Probably good quality wheels, but I doubt they will match the OEM powder coated wheels. So I'm sure you'll have to get them all powder coated to match correctly. But maybe I'm wrong.

my guess is they are cast and heavy AF for $189. I would suck it up and get the stock widened. that will be a much better wheel.

That was my concern is how well they will match. Not going to power coat my stockers to match

Yeah definitely, they are cheap. I am sure they are solid but most likely very heavy. I just can’t believe Ford didn’t put bigger/better tires on this car with at least a 10in wide wheel. Literally my only complaint.

Weldcraft widened my rear wheels to 20×11, they turned out awesome.

I also had them all powder coated the same gray as the PP wheels

I have pretty much leaned to just getting 2 20x9.5 wheels and having them widened. I have gotten work done by weldcraft. Top notch place.

Any issues with running a 20x11 wheel? I am on stock suspension.

I did put a 5mm spacer on just to give myself some extra clearance, it's close to the lower control arms and parking brake lines.

+1 ^^.

They're virtually guaranteed not to match. There is no paint/powder code for '13/'14 GT500 wheels, which were coated by both the wheel manufacturer and Helios Coatings. Unfortunately, that means wheel color varies from car-to-car. Additionally, a multi-layer process was used to coat the wheels, so it's more complicated than simply painting or powdercoating them...

To ensure a good color match, you'll want to have all four wheels coated by the same company at the same time. (Several years ago, they got $125 a wheel, strip, polish and paint. S&H was extra.) Helios contact info is:

Helios Coatings, Inc.

Thanks for the info. I think I might try and track down a spare set and go all in. I get I can go the high end wheel route but I have been there and done that and I actually really like the stockers

Even at the higher cost they'll command, a set of original SVTPP wheels probably is your best bet. They're made to withstand the stresses associated with the HP & TQ our cars develop. The same is probably not true of cheaper, heavier, cast wheels. As a rule, SVTPP wheels are also easier to find than Base wheels.

All solid points. That was my main concern as well with the AM wheels. I do really like the base wheels but every car (toy) I have had has had 5 spoke wheels. I think I want a change and I love the PP wheels

Honestly, would be best to just purchase 2 more OEM rims if you can find them Used. Pay the price to have Widened. Thats if you are set on keeping the stock Rims.

Those cheap rims will not look the same, get what you pay for, correct.

The stock wheels are great wheels. It would sadden me if you replaced a solid set of forged wheels with crap cast wheels. Glad that you came around.

I can tell they aren't the same color as OEM. They are dull and don't have the shine ours has.

I widened my rears to 10.75". This required a 3 mm spacer. Add more rim width and I feel you would need a larger spacer which would require studs for me to be comfortable. With 3 mm I still had enough thread engagement to be comfortable and the rim was still hubcentric.

I had Eric Vaughn do mine but I believe he has closed shop. I run a 305/35 G2 and am very happy with the way they look and profile.

So in a nutshell, don't mount junk wheels on a Shelby.
I'm running widened rears like some here.
You'll enjoy the quality of a widened OEM wheel when it's done.
I've heard of guys having to go through several cast chinese wheels before one would balance out.
Out of round bad! If my wheel manufacturer hasn't accomplished round yet.. we're not talking.

Thanks for the heads up. I will most likely start looking after the new year.

Any issue going to 10 or 10.5? I really don't want to run a spacer.

That's what I figured. Never bought wheels from AM but figured they were most likely crap. Still wanted to ask what everyone was doing. I have only ran OEM or high end wheels on my cars (HRE, CCW and Roush). I can say these are the first set of OEM wheels I love that come stock on a toy car I bought. I just want to throw a bigger tire in the rears.
