Am I crazy for thinking of trading in my GT3 RS

I would keep the 3RS.

Unless youre locked into a lease on the Aventador, it seems like that would be a good place to start to replace seeing that you don't enjoy it as much.

I can't believe youre asking us what to do. So far you've brought up like $800k worth of cars you have. It's an $80k-$100k mustang.

I'm a big enjoy the journey instead of the destination guy.

Well then sell the 3RS and get a 2RS. That will probably be a journey.

Had a 2RS and sold it within a month. Extremely boring compared to the 3RS. Turbo lag was very real and it lacked a certain punch that that can't be quantified in speed or launch speed because it sure as shit had that, it really just felt soul-less.

Humble Brag.

Maybe Kaeda moved and sold his Demon.

Oh absolutely they are, track times are mostly irrelevant, like dyno numbers, different days, different results. I have video of me practically fisting an occasional track day driver in his GT2RS vs me in my mostly stock S2000 on shitty eBay coilovers..

He spent a whole hell of a lot of money to gain nothing. Until you are a proper track rat cars like the Z1LE, CFTP, RS is just an expensive status symbol

I completely agree with this. It is also better to use the money and get more seat time and coaching to become a better driver.

I know someone who showed up at Mosport with a Ferrari 458 challenge car. He was new to tracking cars and came with a full support team and he was in the novice group...

OP,

I'm in Houston and have a viper. I would be up for meeting some time and checking out cars.

Now you are just being rediculous... We are discussing fun performance cars. You saying the GT500 is as useless as a fusion in that respect? Wasn't long ago you were fighting tooth and nail over how the GT500 was going to be the greatest track car basically ever.. my how the opinions have changed now that you guys own them.. color me shocked!

Fusion comment was in response to your mention of "Unless you are a complete track rat it doesn't matter...".

No, I never said the GT500 was as useless as a Fusion. You are hearing yourself and not what I said.

Quote me where I said the GT500 was the greatest track car ever. Don't twist....link the quote.

The context of this thread is his uncertainty over choosing a GT3RS or a GT500. In that context, and it doesn't appear to be driven by finances, there is no comparison. I like the GT500, don't get me wrong, but it isn't in the same galaxy. That isn't to say it can't turn in a good lap time on a track well suited for it.

What relevance does a fusion have in this discussion... It doesn't. A base model GT500 is fine for an occasional track day, in fact kind of its main point. Occasional track days/street duty. Therefore, at his occasional track day it won't matter if he has a base 500 or a 3RS. Nobody who does occasional track days is worth a damn in the lap time department.

Don't get stuck on points that go right over your head. Go back an read it again.

"... as long as the car makes me feel connected and alive." Those are his words. Mine were "If you really just want a lesser performing car that gets abysmal fuel economy to pimp on the highway then I would highly recommend the GT500, in stock form. But be prepared....one lap on a tight track and you will instantly long for a much lighter car."

It doesn't get any simpler than that.

You seem to have the ability to buy one if you want to, so why not just buy one and then get rid of the car that you like less after living with it for a little while. I recently sold my 997.1 Twin Turbo M6 and I can tell you that compared to my others cars (All American Muscle) it just didn’t have the grunt I am used to and crazy torque of the other cars. Definitely a fun car to drive and more refined, but refinement has never been my thing. While I haven’t driven a new GT500, I’m sure the power makes for a really fun street driving experience and I’m sure it is more than capable for the occasional track session.
Please post a pic of your entire stable. Would love to see it.
Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Ok let's make this simple.
-OP wants to try something new (American car)
-He only does the occasional track day
-where'd he say anything about tight tracks?
-the 3RS is absolutely not the best street car, especially with track focused mods
-the GT500 will be fine on the occasional track day
*Most importantly*
-why in the hell would OP care about fuel economy...

Not really that hard to understand.

A buddy with a couple of Ferrari's wears white slip on suede loafers by Ferrari, belt by Ferrari and sunglasses by Ray Ban, Ferrari collection and a variety of other Ferrari garb. Not that there's anything wrong with that...

I know there's lots of Porsche gear as well.

If you're into that sort of thing you should know the luxury apparel selection by Ford is a little thin.

Does my GT500 T-Shirt count?

Hey guys, I recently have not been able to shake the itch of the GT500 and have been seriously considering trading in my 991.1 GT3 RS for a 2020 CFTP. I'm a text book impulse buyer so I'm actually trying my hand of being reasonable at this. My RS is one of my favorite cars I've ever owned and it's been tuned to the bolts by GMG with heavy track focus.

But I can't get the GT500 out of my head. I wouldn't call myself a track rat by any stretch but I enjoy the occasional track day and everything I have seen/read shows that the GT500 is not actually as much of track downgrade but actually an upgrade for the use I get out of it.

I get that I'm talking to a bias community here but very intrigued to hear thoughts on if I need to put down the crazy pills and keep the RS.

Cheers boys!
Get the GT500!!!,and then pic up a 2013-2014 GT500!!
