Quote, not sure why looking like that they're taking the rear quarter glass out??

A 1hr road test? You have to be shitting me. You don't charge for road tests. That estimate is complete garbage and that was the first thing I read. It doesn't need a 4 wheel alignment either. I'd run this girl through the ringer for trying to pull this shit.

Can you post or send me other pictures of the damage? I'm an autobody estimator and have dealt with these types of repairs plenty of times and probably over 100 repairs on these model year Rogues specifically. I wrote and oversaw repairs on tons of them with this exact damage.

And tell her not to pay shit. If it is not going through insurance than she has plenty of rights to get a fair assessment of the damage. If the other driver doesn't agree then tell her not to pay shit until it is taken to a neutral shop and I would meet the driver there at the shop while they do the estimate. A 15mph hit isn't going to do that much damage so if it did then it was a much faster hit. A 15mph hit could barely damage the rear bumper bar. If the other driver gets feisty about it then tell your friend to respond by saying she is going to submit it to her insurance to deal with it then. She has options to make this girl be honest and make sure she doesn't pay more than she should have to.

LOL at playing hard ball with someone doing you a favor by not getting police or insurance involved. Who care's if the quote is high, is it worth it to your friend to not have insurance bend her over for a few years. Now we're trusting insurance to NOT jack up rates when we have a multiple threads of posters complaining about insurance raising rates for NOTHING, and other poster telling their stories of their insurance company doing the same to them?

Either way goodluck to your friend. A ex of mine did this about 15 years ago, from that experience I'm dealing with insurance for any accident at fault or not.

What are you referring to? I didn't work for USAA.

From what I see, this is probably a $1500 repair at most. I don't see quarter panel damage or tailgate damage existing but it could be a slight scuff which in that case no body work would be needed. If it can't be buffed out then it would be refinish time only. I highly doubt there is frame damage either. Sorry, but I wouldn't advise anyone to be taken for $2000 dollars more than what the repair calls for. Just because you caused an accident doesn't mean you get taken to the cleaners so you can fix the other person's car and pay their rent at the same time. The shop is helping the other driver scam and I dealt with this same exact scenario with one of my exes. She bumped into a girl's car in a parking lot and wanted to settle it without insurance. The girl sent my ex an estimate she got never knowing I was an estimator and it was just like this. I called the shop that did the estimate for the girl and they said they just wrote it up for all the damage that girl told them, they didn't know the scenario. I told her she could come to my shop and I would fix the damage to the bumper that she caused and only that damage, but we weren't paying for what she was trying to get covered. From what I remember the girl never even followed through with getting it repaired because it was minor damage and her car was already a piece of junk.

So looks like might go outside of insurance. Spoke with the other driver and they agreeded to split the cost of the quote. It really was mostly the fault of the other driver but in NY if you hit the rear of the vehicle it's your fault. The other driver (new to driving) began to merge then panicked and slammed on the brakes mid-merge. Just have to figure out something to write up to have signed and notarized that accepting payment essentially settles the matter. I think insurance is still the way to go but ultimately not my call.

Im glad that situation worked out for you. Even still, this girl is doing the OP's friend a favor, period.

Let's say they play hardball cause they dont think its $3k+ in damage and refuse to pay. The girl then files against the OP's friends insurance to have her vehicle repaired. Even if the repair comes in a little less than the original quote the OP's friend will still have to end up paying higher insurance rates for the next 3-5 years for an at fault accident. Which IMO will come out to more than the original $3k bill.

Probably, but at that cost at least it's broken down over time. For $3,200 it's worth paying the little extra to go through insurance for the convenience. Additional also both vehicles would be fixed, the $3,200 would only fix one. The other driver was very young, I wouldn't be surprised if there was a reason they were so anxious to avoid insurance and a police report when it was not their fault of paper (not a full license, parents car and not on the insurance, etc).

I understand that the $3200 was only for the lady hit from the rears vehicle to be fixed. My point was, had it went to insurance your friend would be out of more than $3200 ultimately. That's moot now since ya'll seem to have gotten it settled, your friend dodged a bullet imo.

It's not always that cut and dry. You can't guarantee that insurance is going to sky-rocket just because of a small hit. Her insurance may have an accident forgiveness policy which could spare her drastically increased rates but we just don't know.

I'd say if the girl won't compromise by getting a second estimate at a neutral shop that your friend chooses then tell the other driver that she will be running it through her insurance so they can handle it. The insurance company will fight for their insured and they don't always just give up and take blame in every case, they'll fight for a compromise from the other company even if you are to blame for the accident.

If she is willing to pay this wait for the neck or back and pinky toe pain to kick in ..... let the insurance handle it.
