You know those Harbor Freight jackstands you got to replace the recalled ones?

When I took mine back those foos tried to replace mine with these. I told the cashier “Nope, store credit. I can’t trust my life to this product.” This was after the manager told home to replace them. He looked at me, thought about what she told him to do and decided on the smart move of giving me store credit.

To be clear, you don't "inspect" quality into a product.

No, you build processes and follow them.

However sometimes it's cheaper to build a process that doesn't hold tolerance and scrap the parts that fail to meet the tolerance then it is to build a process that yields 100%.

This is even more the case when you can sell the scrapped product as off-label on Aliexpress.

That is what I replaced the HF ones with. I have read reviews that the double locking portion does not grab the entire tooth. However, they seem solid as hell and they have held up up truck with zero issue.

So just don't buy they're jack stands in other words;);):(
That would be the prudent thing to do. There are much better choices out there. I almost bought a Harbor Freight jack last year. Thankfully, I found a solid, high quality jack that I can better trust.

You are so correct! Consistent quality has to be first built into the product. It becomes a (high) standard. The inspection process then should remove those jacks that don't meet that established (high) standard. Consumer can and should steer away from products that have lower standards. Which is why online reviews can be very helpful.

Eh. I might return mine after I finish putting the engine back in my car. They've been under there for a few months now. Even if I return them I always have the jack and/or wheels placed somewhere under the car in case of a failed stand. Have always done that and will continue too no matter what brand stand I get next.

What are they giving value wise? I have 2 pair of the 3 ton ones and a pair of the 6 ton ones. My primary jackstands are the 6 ton Torin double locking ones mentioned earlier in this thread of which I have 4. However, from time to time, I pull out the 6 ton HF ones for things, but the 3 ton ones are sitting around.

I assume they are giving full 'retail value' for the returned ones? I will gladly take store credit.

It was somewhere between $75-$95 for 4 of them.

An excerpt from Monty Python and the Harbor Freight Jack Stands:

We apologize for the fault in the jack stands. Those responsible have been sacked.

We apologize again for the fault in the jack stands. Those responsible for sacking the people who have just been sacked, have been sacked.

Mr. Bean needs to chime in and give us his thoughts.
