Time for new Ride. C8 Z51 or 2019 GT350R seems easy, right?

Manual to manual, the Shelby is actually 4-5 seconds faster at Laguna, and 7-8 seconds faster at VIR,

also, the Shelby has exhaust valves and a quiet mode. I despise it, and flick the loud switch right after startup!
It's safe to assume that you're comparing times from Car and Driver's lightning laps done in different days in different conditions with different drivers. Watch the in car shots, they're a joke. Same day, same driver the ats-v was .01 faster at Chuckwalla.

Let's be honest here. Nobody buys these cars and competes where a second here and a tenth there matters. If all you're doing is HPDE events you aren't either.

Agreed most lap times are trash,
I do like Randy Probst @ Laguna though, and those were his times in both cars 1:36.1 to 1:40.1

No hate and we all like our cars, but if I personally knew someone who passed on a 350R for an ATSV I would smack them upside the head

There was only a 2.82 second lap difference at Laguna and that was taken on two different days. Hell, I've personally seen that difference in one day there as the weather changed throughout the day. The ATS-V was 0.01 faster at Chuckwalla when they ran back to back. Nobody in their right mind slaps someone for buying a bad ass car that tunes like a sob over that minute difference.

Well for the sake of boredom/curiosity ;
Laguna; the days on video looked sunny, and I don't know how much weather actually varies off the coast of southern California
'16 ATS V 6-spd - 1:40.18 - youtu.be/ydpSlGiiq1g
'16 350R - 1:36.11 - youtu.be/9kPRxiOB48Y

I don't know anything about Chuckwalla, nor found vids but :
Cadillac ATS-V laptime at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway - FastestLaps.com -ATS-V 2:00.81 - manual/auto don't know?
Ford Shelby Mustang GT350R laptime at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway - FastestLaps.com -350R - 1:57.87 - believe you looked at the base model 350 time

Conveniently, Randy P ran all these times above for some consistency.
And agreed, top drivers putting laps can differ 0.25/0.50/0.75 sec here and there, but a 4 sec difference you will notice, probably equates to 30+ car lengths on the front straight finish line after one lap with the same driver, different machines,
Not saying the ATSV isn't a fast/capable car.. but if the OP gets an ATSV over a c8 or 350R, I don't know him but yes I might slap him. Assuming he is not bigger than me of course,
