Any insights, comments or concerns?

I may have to make a choice here in a few weeks.

Ocean Life sounds great, but humidity, bugs and being "cut off from the rest of the world" doesn't.

Tampa has sinkholes, so that's a big plus and Clearwater with their Scientology village is pretty neat.

Humidity blows.
Bugs aren't all that bad depending on where you live. Closer to the sticks you'll get more bugs. Closer to the city there won't be so many.

Never been to Phoenix but lived in Tampa bay area for a while. Absolutely loved it. Pinellas county is a great place to raise a family, tons of water for boating/ fishing. Baseball and football teams, decent racing scene. I think I'll be trying to move back that way in 5-10 years

No state income tax, no vehicle inspections, concealed carry

I've been in the northwest Phoenix area for 14 years now and I really like it. Housing and cost of living is relatively cheap. I'm 4 hours from Vegas. 5 hours from the beach. In the summers if I get too tired of the heat, I'm 2 hours from a 30 degree drop to nice weather in Flagstaff or anywhere in northern Arizona. I do miss the change in seasons a little bit now that I've been here for so long (I'm originally from Kansas).

I was in Orlando in August and had a good time but I was not a fan of the humidity in comparison to the dry heat we have here. But don't let anyone fool you by saying it's only a 3 month summer; it's hotter than balls from mid April thru October. lol Oh, and if your job offer is for the Tucson area, just go to Tampa.

I love the desert! Moved from Ohio to AZ six years ago and never looked back. I’d say the summers here are more tolerable than the humidity in FL.

No hurricanes in Arizona. Although A hurricane hasn’t directly hit Tampa in nearly 100 years it’s still bound to happen again.

I wouldn’t go to either but maybe the surrounding area. Never been to Phoenix but my parents have a vacation house in the Port Charlotte area (90 miles south of Tampa) we’ve been going to since I was little. I like the area and I’m used to humid summers, so Tampa has my vote.

it's hard to beat those beaches. I have a house near clearwater. The humidity is a killer. Hurricanes....pretty scary shit. I'm moving to AZ and I think I'll stay for life.

I cannot speak for AZ as never been there but did live in Tampa for 4 years.

The traffic sucks so get used to it. I came from Atlanta, and while not nearly as bad, it was worse in Tampa than I expected. The humidity is rough if you're not used to it. Daily storms in the summer do make it rough. Streets flood pretty quick so depending what you drive it might not be fun.

Rentals were spotty when I was there. But likely the same as any other larger city. Plenty to do so not likely to get bored.

Debating this as we approach "empty nesters". We live on the water now, and have spent a fair amount of time in AZ, and have realized, we would miss the ocean too much. Leaning to the west coast of FL.
