Had one, sold it after the cool factor wore off.
That's what I was worried about. I feel like it's more of a conversation piece, and not something I'd enjoy taking to the range all of the time.
Good way to piss away $2,000 lol

I thought it would be way more than $2k?That's what I was worried about. I feel like it's more of a conversation piece, and not something I'd enjoy taking to the range all of the time.

Nah, save and search and get a happy switch for your ARs.

If it's new, might want to multiply that by about 6 fully outfitted lol. I easily topped $10K in mine.
It was pretty damn cool at first, but quickly turned into a very seldom used novelty.
You only live once though, and every gun nut should experience a 50 at least once in their life. Think of it as a bucket list item.
Ah, high six-figure thinking right there.I do not think I can buy one for $2k. I know I can buy one for $8-12k..and if I got tired of it, and sold it, I'd lose $2k, hence...pissing away $2k.
There are so many better rounds than the 50 bmg out right now. If you're spending what it takes to get into a M82A1 then you should really look at 338LM, the Cheytac offerings, even the 416 Barrett. If you're not shooting hardened targets why bother with the 50? I'd rather have a semi-auto M2HB than a M82A1 if I really wanted a 50 bmg toy.
ETA: If you really want to drop $10k on new gun stuff... get yourself set up with a nice night vision goggle and helmet setup.
Ah, high six-figure thinking right there.
There are plenty of awesome rounds out there.. like previously mentioned, 80% of having a 50 BMG, is saying you have a 50 BMG.
I'm going to go against the grain here and say no. First off does your range even allow you to shoot .50 BMG? Second, at $3 a round it seems like a waste. Third, I don't know what kind of shooter you are but can you even exploit the capabilities of one? I know I have a hard time at 200 yds with my 30.06 and it ain't my scope or rifle, it's my old eyes and hands.
Now forget about all this Barrett 82A nonsense and buy yourself a nice M21 with a FLIR optic and work me out a deal on your 2021 GT500 allocation.
