Had one, sold it after the cool factor wore off.

That's what I was worried about. I feel like it's more of a conversation piece, and not something I'd enjoy taking to the range all of the time.

Good way to piss away $2,000 lol

$2K?????

No one is going to talk you out of buying an M82 for $2K. If you pass on it, let me know how I can contact the person/shop you are purchasing from. I will buy it on principle alone.

@13COBRA That Barrett is the only way to make an ethical kill from a mile out.. so Id say its more of a necessity than anything.

Nah, save and search and get a happy switch for your ARs.

Fancy way of saying belt loop it sounds like. :D :D :D j/k j/k
Those full auto lower are stupid expensive, but **** me would that be magnificent to have. Fast way to use older ammo to make room for new crates. hehehe

If it's new, might want to multiply that by about 6 fully outfitted lol. I easily topped $10K in mine.

It was pretty damn cool at first, but quickly turned into a very seldom used novelty.

You only live once though, and every gun nut should experience a 50 at least once in their life. Think of it as a bucket list item.

I thought it would be way more than $2k?

I do not think I can buy one for $2k. I know I can buy one for $8-12k..and if I got tired of it, and sold it, I'd lose $2k, hence...pissing away $2k.

There are so many better rounds than the 50 bmg out right now. If you're spending what it takes to get into a M82A1 then you should really look at 338LM, the Cheytac offerings, even the 416 Barrett. If you're not shooting hardened targets why bother with the 50? I'd rather have a semi-auto M2HB than a M82A1 if I really wanted a 50 bmg toy.

ETA: If you really want to drop $10k on new gun stuff... get yourself set up with a nice night vision goggle and helmet setup.

There are plenty of awesome rounds out there.. like previously mentioned, 80% of having a 50 BMG, is saying you have a 50 BMG.

Ah, high six-figure thinking right there.

In my dreams. haha

When you go to sell your Raptor, hit me up and I'll shoot you a cash offer.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say no. First off does your range even allow you to shoot .50 BMG? Second, at $3 a round it seems like a waste. Third, I don't know what kind of shooter you are but can you even exploit the capabilities of one? I know I have a hard time at 200 yds with my 30.06 and it ain't my scope or rifle, it's my old eyes and hands.
Now forget about all this Barrett 82A nonsense and buy yourself a nice M21 with a FLIR optic and work me out a deal on your 2021 GT500 allocation.

I have a private range I shoot at.
$3? That's not bad.
I've shot 338 Lapua to just under 900 yards.

Let me talk you out of this crazy thought you have been having about not buying a rifle.

Firm arms purchasing restraint is one of those things that you will need to get out of your life. I can act as your counselor in this area. Buy it now.

By the way, if you elect not to buy, I’ll give $2k in a heart beat. They normally sell for around $8k. Hint, hint.

If you have the money burning a hole then go for it. My brother's best friend bought one years ago when it was a bit cheaper and although he doesn't get to shoot it often he does get to shoot it. It's awesome.

You picked the best place to come to when you want someone to tell you not to buy something....

Not really. Just buy it.
