Looks like rust and coolant to me. What was the condition of the engine before tear down?

Relaxxxxxxxxxxxxx.....................

Meanwhile, maybe you left the plug out and it got water into the cylinder somehow?? I see the plug, so that is likely not the answer.

Which means moisture got in there... maybe just from sitting OR possible bad head gasket OR cracked head. IMHO it's one of those three things. Head check is in order, plus I'd confirm block is flat too.

I love head.

With regards to your head, looks like your cylinder head had moisture of some kind. Coolant, condensation ect. Could be from the exhaust. How long has the motor sat before tear down?

They're just messing with you. Think of what else the word "head" refers to.

Make sure everything is magnafluxed and checked for cracks.

If the moisture was contained to just 1 cylinder I would be looking hard at the headgasket condition around that cylinder. Could possibly be a cracked cylinder wall as well or even a crack in the intake or exhaust port for that cylinder.

Or the exhaust valves were open on that cylinder when the engine stopped and there was condensation in the exhaust.
