First off, congrats on getting one and nice review

But no need for a not so subtle humble brag thread in the guise of a public awareness warning....lol.....I don't think any one had illusions that this '20 car wouldn't be bad ass or have superior technology right out of the box. It is 18 years newer, costs as much as a small house, and most critical of all its DCT. The terminator has been long passed by technology....I'd say the mid 2000's GTR opened up Pandora's box regarding the transmissions, and the stick car's days were officially numbered over a dozen years ago.

We're all in the family here. Good luck with the new one.

I've been on Youtube for the past couple of days just looking at reviews of this car and it's simply amazing. The amount of tech in this car.
This guy ran an 11.2 hid second time out ever on a drag strip (at 23:25) so I could imagine this running low 10's with some tire and an experienced driver.

Yup! My 2 passes in this car on Sunday were my first ever runs down a drag strip. The car is packaged perfectly for it. The conditions were not the greatest with the track located 2000’ above sea level, a stiff 30 mph+ headwind and no launch area prep, but I did cross the end at 126 mph on both runs. The timer was turned off, but I’m guessing low to mid 11s for my first go at drag racing. The launch control worked hard at getting me out of the hole with such limited traction the street tires provided on the non prepped track.

I’m sure some Terminators could beat the 2020, but it will take a heavily modded car with much more than the 760 hp this thing has.

Did we ever get an official weight on the GT500? I kept seeing 4200lbs, but I don't know if that was official.

My Cobra weighs 3690 before the Whipple went on. So I'd think we still have an advantage there. I think most twin screw a d VMP Cobras will be ok if they have a decent tire. Now if there's a turn or two thrown in we're screwed.

The official weights came out a little lower than initially advertised. I don’t recall the exact number, but it was high 4,1XX and the CFTP cars are even less... I think about 80 pounds less.

Yes, the Terminators weigh quite a bit less, but the point I was trying to make above is this car manages the power and puts it down in a crazy-magical way. Starting from a dig, the car has an impressive launch control that feeds in all the power the rear tires can handle at any given moment. The magneride suspension softens the rear shocks to get them to squat thus transferring weight and affording more traction. Then the DCT shines... you stay in full boost while the DCT snaps out shifts.

If doing a roll race, all you do is mash the go pedal and the DCT instantly selects the perfect gear and then hammers each successive gear in hard shifts.

I have a 750hp (crank) 2.9L 2011 GT500. It has about the same power as the new version. It weighs about 3800-3900 pounds and would get destroyed in a race. This is my point with the Terminator... you’d need a significant power advantage to overcome the magic tech even with the weight advantage.

I could only imagine if that car was run at Cecil in MD or E-Town in NJ. I keep looking at this video because the amount of thought put into this car. All you really need to do is point and shoot. The launch control, electronic suspension, etc. will ensure you leave the line perfectly and the shifting is like power shifting without the damage to the tranny.

I wonder if it adapts to the owner’s driving style after several drive cycles?

Not that I know of. What is adaptive so to speak is you can set the launch control RPM in 100 RPM increments. It also “adapts” to the surface conditions by feeding in power allowing for some, but not excessive wheel spin out of the hole. If you are sticking like glue, be prepared for a hard launch. If you don’t have good traction, it will come out of the hole much more slowly and then start hammering you with acceleration and shifts once it is hooked.

+1. It's one thing to run 10s when a car essentially does it for you. It's another thing to do it without all the electronic assistance and while rowing your own gears.
Can’t argue with that whatsoever. Like I mentioned... I’ve never run a car down the drag strip before. Same thing on the road course. This car makes it all damn near effortless. It will take a heavily modded car and a good driver to beat it.

I am a pilot, so I’ll use planes for an analogy. That’s like saying this:

Is better than this:

Both were and are great planes, but the mighty P-51 doesn’t stand a chance against years of R&D and all of the new tech.

Don’t misconstrue this as me being “anti-Terminator.” I am not. I am actually a big fan... also a big fan of the historic P-51! The new stuff is just in a whole ‘notha world.

Damn, that sounds nice. What sucks is that I could trade in both my Mustangs and still come up $30,000 or so dollars short.
