As some of you know, I occasionally paint 57 Chevy bodies for my Dad. He told me he wanted a nice blue one.

I thought what's a nicer blue than Sonic Blue? So, I decided to paint one of his cars Sonic Blue. However, this time I wanted to try a new technique when it came to spraying the clear coat. I sprayed the clear coat as normal. Then I sanded the clear coat with 2000 and then 3000 grit. This time, instead of polishing the clear, I decided to do a process called "Flow" coating and I resprayed the clear coat using a heavy flow.

I can't believe how good it turned out. This car is a 1/12 scale and a good size bigger than the 1/18 Cobra's. So, I don't think I will try this with the Cobra's as I think the clear would "fill" in areas such as body lines or the "COBRA" lettering on the rear bumper.

Anyway, just wanted to share a couple pictures.

With flash showing how deep and rich the Sonic Blue looks.

I've used flowing to smooth runs. I'm impressed that you were able to get that finish. Looks good.

Thanks Revvv! Yes, the tricks of the painter can save you headaches some times LOL. Yeah, I was thrilled when the paint came out looking like that. My Dad was really happy with it and my mom said "that blue" was really nice LOL.

I didn't have the heart to tell them it was a Ford color LOL...……..

I was doing this to a Sonic Blue one. I got it all apart but than failed at putting it back together. If I find all the parts is this something in the future if I send it to you that you could/would want to finish putting together?

Okay,

As a heads up I will not be updating this thread for a while (have some other obligations).

However, I will keep this hobby going and I do have some projects in the works. Also, my brother has gotten in to a new hobby that I'm going to explore incorporating in my diecast builds.

I will not have these projects completed any time soon. So, in the mean time here is a teaser picture on the next Cobra diecast project. I normally do not like posting teaser pictures as when I look at a thread I want to see progress LOL.

However, figured I would throw this out there since I will not be updating this thread for a while.

I will still be dropping in on SVTP, so feel free to ask questions or hit me up if you want me to build a Cobra for you.

Hmmmmmm, what could it be LOL :D…………….

Hello GodStang. Yes sir. When you're ready send me a PM and we can discuss all the details and see what you would like to do or add any modifications you may be interested in.

Okay all,

Finished with my official requirements for my job (had to go out of town for 5 weeks). Then upon my return I took 2 weeks off to vacation in sunny San Diego.

So...…. I'M BACK...……..LOL.

And I'm right back at it. I have 4 builds in the works. I'm building a SB, RF, SM and a custom. On a side note if any one is looking for a build for Christmas or anything hit me up so I can ensure to finish the build in time.

Here are the SB and RF for now.

Glenn that Red-fire looks amazing, so life like. great work as well.

Thank you Will! Glad to know you still visit this thread from time to time! I appreciate it :D.

I know what you mean. I normally like SB over RF, but for some reason that particular RF came out pretty sweet. Maybe it's the black CCWs or the stance or a combination of both that really sets it off.

Have a good one brother!

Agreed on the stance, wheel, and color. I am always probing around here looking at your work and checking out the deals.

Take care
