Is the only difference the need for a bigger rotor?

Can I still use the machined fitting and spacer kit from above?

The machines fittings work. I can check tonight if the same size spacer centers the rotor.

However, you need a larger rotor. The gt500 rotor is 14”. I don’t have one handy to test fit one to see if it works. Diameter and offset needs to be correct.

Would be pretty badass if this proves to be a possible cheap 14” brembo upgrade.

Damn. That's what I get for skim reading instead of taking the time to see what I actually needed lol

Yes this would be amazing.

I did mount a cut-down gt500 rotor on my setup before. I cut it down to 13” and it slipped in perfectly on my C6 floating Caliper setup.

So it’s close...but fixed calipers are a whole different beast

What was the reason for cutting it down to the same size as Cobra rotor? Was the different offset that the rotor had when mounted what worked with those calipers verses a 13” Cobra rotor?

Thanks
Ken

For that project, I was trying to find a 13.1” by 1.25” thick rotor option for the c5/C6/Baer calipers I was running. The only option was high dollar 2 piece rotors.

So me and a buddy took a 14” gt500 rotor and cut it down. Bolted right up and cleared the Caliper abutments perfectly

My friend now runs these rotors on his car with the same brake setup on his car..I run standard cobra

Calipers have since been wiped of corvette logo.

There may be something to the XTS/J64 brembos too.

I mocked these up without the custom bushings. With the 2 mm offset, the 12mm bolt in the 14mm threaded holes actually does catch enough to get snug.

I’m running a 0.075” spacer under the rotor, but the Caliper centers up pretty good.

I measure that there is about 0.7” of distance from edge of rotor to edge of pad. With a 14” rotor that would cut it down to around 0.2” which is how much the ATS Caliper is off.

Use lowrangers offset bushings to pull the Caliper down a bit....and this crazy idea just might actually be possible

Need to really test fit with an actual gt500 rotor. Maybe I’ll swing by autozobe and get one

No idea how big of a rim you need to clear.

Ahh got it. Very cool man. How much do the c6 calipers go for? I’m guessing a bit more than the ATS calipers. Do you know whether the c6 calipers with the cut down rotor would clear a stock 17” Terminator wheel? I know the rotor is the same size but wasn’t sure how much bigger the calipers might be.
Thanks again

All detailed in this thread

Works with all the 17” wheels I’ve tried.

The 13” spare doesn’t clear

Yes, I still have them for now. I’d try the rotors if I could get my hands on one easily.

I’ll likely grab a gt500 rotor this week

Sounds good

Fyi, the width of the Wilwood 14” rotors is 1.25” according to their website, you can always hit up FTBR to get more accurate dimensions if that helps you.

If you get it figured out I would be interested in getting some made if you would consider it.
Here's my prototype insert modeled in CAD.

M12x1.75 with a 1mm offset.

Still need to triple check some dimensions. I want to model up the mating flange of the caliper and Sn95 spindle and check to see if this will fit. There's a lip on the caliper cup that I need to pay attention to. I could open it up a tad if needed but trying to avoid that.

I think I can even offset the hole slightly up to lower the caliper down on the rotor. Of course, I don't think it's much really so it won't do much to help with rotor coverage. There's still the issue of the curvature of the caliper and interference in the front and rear rotor channel before the pad fully covers the rotor surface.

Anyway, fun to play around with this stuff in 3D, but i'm going to try and machine up something.

Stopped by the local auto parts stores after work. None had a GT500 rotor in stock. Closest store that had one was 30 min in opposite direction from home.

Went online and see Advanced auto had free shipping and 15% off, so I ordered a rotor. $66 with tax. Should be here in a few days so I can try some test fitting. 45 days to return it should be plenty.

I’m very curious to see if this works with the larger XTS brembos
