Growing up in Jersey and hanging in NYC the Twin Towers were something that you always expected to see in the skyline. I was at Liberty State Park last week and you just look over there and something is missing.
My wife and I went to the Flight 93 memorial this Spring. It is a somber place. The phone calls to loved ones are very difficult to listen to. The whole world changed that day.

I had just finished a year tour in the Middle East. In between duty stations headed to Texas but home in Florida on leave. I was damn near a kid then looking back on it. I stayed on leave a few extra weeks because I know how things are around bases after an attack. I'll never forget the picture of the man Supermaning head first straight down. It was brilliant to be honest, worst thing to ever happen to our country. It could have been prevented, it should have been prevented. Just Crazy.

I get upset listening to the 911 calls from the people in the towers as well as the “final calls” people made to loved ones.

After that feeling fades it’s nothing but anger.

How those pussy ****s hijacked those planes and just rode those people to their deaths infuriates me.

I wish we could’ve seen the look on their worthless faces when 93 came down. Hopefully they were bleeding out and drowning in their own blood while they screamed some jacked off religious zealot bull shit.

And likewise, I wish those people on that plane could know how goddamn awesome they are, and how regular people like me revere that act of vigilantism.

So much this.

I’d sleep easier knowing we turned that entire shithole to glass.

I had just discharged from the Navy when it went down. The local recruiting offices got flooded with guys trying to sign up and go kick some goat ****ing ass.

Over the past 18 years I keep hearing Afganistan is fertile for terrorists so we need to keep people there to prevent another massive 9-11 attack. Even thought it's the "graveyard of empires."
A good portion of the people in Afganistan don't even know they are a country, much less why all the Americans showed up.
The dark part of me wants to see us drop a ridiculous amount of "cobalt" Nuclear weapons to essentially salt the entire region in radioactive fallout with a half life of roughly 5.27 years. During that time a lethal dose of radiation would take just an hour.
After 20 half lifes, or 105 years people could live there again but they'd still be prone to cancer for another 25years. Deny the territory to the enemy for a century. This brings me to MacArthur vs Truman in the Korean war.
MacArthur wanted to drop atom bombs along the Korean Chinese border in order to create a barrier (denial of access) for Chinese to prevent them from supporting the Communists (north) with tens of thousands of troops flooding in from China.
Truman fired MacArthur, which in hindsight was the right call. It would have made the use of nukes in a limited tactical fashion acceptable to the world.

I just have reservations because the women and children. But the second we pull out, any of them that helped us will be slaughtered by the Taliban.
Also just like the moral dilemma MacArthur and Truman faced, using nuclear weapons invites other countries to see them as fair to use in limited/tactical situations. I'd imagine India and Pakistan would go to town.

But at this point we are essentially playing chess against pigeons. We've tried to teach them how to play and surprise they never follow the rules. So while we try to follow the rules of war, and be decent human beings they just strut around, knock the pieces over, crap on the board, and fly back to thier flock to claim victory.

I frankly do not see an option that is effective and morally palpable in Afghanistan.

I just outlined the “reasonable” and “moral” option in my last post.

Your post simply pointed out the benefits involved. We are the worlds #1 military superpower-and total and utter destruction of that shithole would send shockwaves and a strong message to the rest of the world about ****ing with us in any way, shape, or form.

Generations of future terrorists would be completely wiped from the face of the earth.

Frankly, there is no downside to doing it. Period.

I posted this in another thread that ran off the rails, figured it might be better served in here:

I bought this in the gift shop at the twin towers in May 2001. I taped the observatory ticket on the back.

I sympathize with your opinion, truly. Like I said, 4 trips of 3 years I spent there. I absolutely hate Islam. What you're talking is straight up Hitler. I can't condone that especially with the women and children. The sad part is Christians won't stand up to Islam as they once did yet Islam is just as vile as it was then. They are getting a foothold around the world and will be taking over..already happening. It's a good question...what do we do?

There is no perfect answer to that question. The best we can do is not judge the whole based on the some, live a virtuous life, and hope others do the same. We can't control those in power, and we certainly can't control the general population. That's sort of how it's meant to be, sad as it sounds.

No, it isnt.

Not even ****ing close.

Its a more precise and quick long term solution to a festering cancer on this planet.

There wont be concentration camps riddled with the stacked bodies of genocided jews who werent a threat.

These bitches have declared war on the rest of the earth, and must be dealt with at some point.

The sooner we take of this problem, the better.

I def sympathize with you and agree with you on almost your entire reply. I won't even argue that a huge parking lot wouldn't be in OUR best interest in the long run as well as the rest of the world. But anyone for whatever reason wants to demolish another group..well that's Hitlerish....if you will. But trust me when I say I'm definitely on your side, just maybe not so drastic.

Extreme isolationism is the most peaceful solution.
