I don't know how you're driving, but I was getting that kind of mileage out of a 2009 F-350 V10 while towing 10,000 pounds.
Not like I stole it, thats for sure. Just passed emissions. In AZ on heavy duty trucks over 8000 pounds GVWR, they put them on the rollers for loaded 5 gas.

Passed with flying colors so I dont think theres a tune in it. Been filling up with Chevron 87 as well.

Yea, seems low.

Fathers whippled Excursion gets 11-12mpg, and it doesn't see the highway a lot.

Ill check the ECU with FORscan this weekend and see what the fuel trims look like.

.... Its entirely possible I just want a newer truck and I dont know how to say that out loud haha. But its genuinely concerning getting under 10mpg.

Driving unloaded halfway normally I would expect 12-13mpg.

Makes 2 of us.

I realize I have failed to mention that my Excursion has factory 4.30s and 4x4. But Im also on 33s. Thats also a reason. I doubt this thing would get out of its own way if it had 3.31s lol.

That means a payment on it, i understand that. Once its paid off its still a 15-16 mpg truck and can haul more and do it with less effort. With maintenance that I can easily do there's no reason I shouldnt get many many miles and years of use out of a Powerstroke.

I suppose Im starting to come around to the idea of a 6.7 Powerstroke. The Shelby should be paid off this spring so Ill have a payment to play with again. Really digging the 2015-2016 Super Duty F-350 SRWs.

I live in Clairemont and work in Sorrento Valley. I usually take Kearny Villa to work and then a mix of Genessee, 52, and 805 to get home. I know you used to live here so I figure you have an idea of the area. Anyway, stuck in that mess twice a day I get 14-15mpg. I usually jump on the 52 to exercise the turbo a little. And I don't see near as many regens as most people talk about.

I just keep up on the oil changes and fuel filters. And I tend to forget when my car or boat is attached. I've caught myself doing 75mph up the mountain on the 8 between here and Az.

Awww, Clairemont! I lived there on Clairemont Blvd, between Balboa and the Town Square. If you ever saw a red GT500 sitting in front of a house driving down Clairemont, that was mine. :) I dont regret moving to AZ, but that was such a great little neighborhood. Some riff-raff there of course, but I loved my time there.

I know exactly what roads youre talking about and yeah, thats a damned parking lot of a mess. For a 6.7 to get 14-15 in THAT? Yeah, I think its 6.7 time. Thank you for your input man. And enjoy that little gem of a neighborhood. Felt like that last reasonably priced place in SD county, haha!

I've been in this house since 2009. You used to post on SCS as well didn't you? I enjoy the area too. But once the kids are done with school we'll be looking elsewhere. Although with the new job I'm starting we might be stuck in SD for awhile. The area has been coming up so I don't know about the reasonable part anymore.

I think part of it is the break in. I bought my truck new so I was able to break it in how you're supposed to. It saw boost a lot those first 500 miles. But even now I tend to enjoy the boost when I can. I tell people I drive it like I drive my Cobra.

Nearly 1000 ft pounds of torque and a variable turbo will do that I suppose. Hell, I need to test drive a 6.7L now. Ive test driven a 6.0 before and that truck, bone stock, had some giddyup. I cant even image what another 400 pounds of torque will feel like unloaded haha.

I've surprised quite a few people with it. They think the big truck is slow so they try to get around me. Especially on the on ramp. When I'm in a mood I'll make sure they don't make it. Sometimes I really want to throw a tune on it just to see how much it changes.

If I ever get a chance to buy a few acres up in Northern AZ, Im probably going to do exactly that with an unfortunate failure of the exhaust bolts at the downpipe. Hate it when bolts randomly fail like that....

Was a pleasant surprise when I gave my 6.7 full throttle. It’s definitely fast. Can’t wait til it’s tuned.

Our tuned and deleted 6.7 is ridiculous. The first time I went to pull out on the freeway and goosed it I ended up letting off because it shocked me how fast it moved out. Night and day from tuned to stock.
