not at my post...
Not legal to drive on the beach, I doubt insurance will pay out on it. Also, that area is slathered in cameras, they'll see who the driver was.

oh they are definitely making payments for the next 6 years...jokes on them!

When harvey flooded houston there was a lot of fraud going on with people driving high end cars into flood waters. Some neighbors caught (on video) some dbag driving a nearly brand new BMW 650 into flood waters.

At least 30 dead so far, wouldn't be surprised to see it hit low 100's with hundreds still missing. Who knows how many got swept away after their house got submerged/demo'd

About 198 trees shit all over my yard. Never seen so many leaves, pine cones, pine straw, branches, limbs, and general crap strewn all over the place. It was piled so high on our private road I had to push it all down the street with the mower so the wife could get out.

Still without power. Been out since 1am yesterday. But I bought a 6250 watt Cat (catapillar) generator. Had it running for about 8 hours yesterday on a full tank and went to bed/shut it off at half a tank. Despite it being 800 bucks, god I'm thankful to have it. It's a tank. But we will be prepared for next season/next power outage I reckon.

best pics of bahamas I've come across. It's hard to even make sense of what I'm looking at in the photos--pretty disturbing to say the least.

It's hard to look at.

I feel for them, and those that lost their lives. But as I sat there and watched the destruction take place, and the storm head my way, I really stopped to remember where they were and where I was.

I'm 15 miles off the coast, in a city historically smacked by hurricanes. I'm on a piece of land in between two high roads, with water about 1/8 mi away from me. It's one of the oldest pieces of Charleston, and people built homes here way back when because it was dry ground. That's why I bought where I bought. But I also live here knowing that one day I may very well have water to my knees in my house, and that's just it. I enjoy the ocean and the rivers and coastal living, but it's just as volatile as it is beautiful.

The poor folks in the Bahamas are an entire nation built on barely any rock or stone. Their entire livelihood depends on the durability of a glorified giant sand bar, and it's horrible to watch it erode beneath them. That entire culture just about went the way of Atlantis and ended up on the bottom of the ocean. I sincerely hope people realize where they're building, and remember that the ocean giveth and taketh away. Always.
