I had a weird itch today to get a RC electric boat. I want a fast one. Would like to stay around $1000-1500 at the max. I see Traxxas has some that will run 50+.. I'm wanting one that will run as fast as possible within my budget.

Thoughts? Ideas? Spend my money.

Thoughts? Make sure you have a water capable transport to go get it when it sinks, or the battery dies lol.

Aside from that, Traxxas is good stuff. I'd also add go big, or go home.....literally.

We'd have Sea Doos on hand.

I agree. I want to go big or go home. I just don't want to do the research from the ground up to do so. I hope someone chimes in with a quick, "here spend your money on this, you'll be happy" post.

Just get hammered and take a remote control down to the dock with you and just pretend like you're driving all the actual boats on the lake

This! I used to run some RC boats, nitro stuff that really hauled ass, the inevitable always happens, crash, loss of control etc.... You will be swimming to get it if you don't have anything to go out retrieve it with...I built my mine from kits and used OS Max motors, futaba radios, receivers, servos etc...This was years ago though, sure there are many other options nowadays.

I was into big time way back. All nitro, hydro planes, deep vees and the insanely crazy riggers. Had a twin rigger that was clicked somewhere around a 100. Nothing touched the water but the skid fin, rudder and bottom half of the props. Ran twin Picco 90’s. Nothing but a wall of water. Mess up, and it’s toothpicks.

That's kinda the reality of everything I own. I get bored quickly.

So far, this is what I'm leaning towards.

Boat: Pro Boat Miss GEICO Zelos 36 Twin Brushless Catamaran RTR | Horizon Hobby
Batteries: E-flite 5000mAh 6S 22.2V 30C LiPo RC Airplane or Heli Battery with EC5 Connector | Horizon Hobby

Spend your money on that. You’ll be happy.

Disclaimer: I have zero experience with RC boats.

Seriously though, that’s exactly what you’re looking for and then some. 75+ mph??!!

Bunch of us bought them years ago, got boring so fast its not even funny. One had the miss Geico, I had the proboat formula. Planes/helis take far more skill and therfore keep interest longer. JMO

Helicopters are a bitch. I used to fly them, and still have 2. Very expensive hobby.

Yea I have two, they certainly are maintinence whores. I dont have time for RC anymore but i was thinking of trading them for a plane with the FPV thing like you see drone nerds wearing. Would be cool

Pro Boat makes a great product. I have a blackjack 26. Stick with electric as nitro is a pain to tune for weather and maintain.
Miss Geico with a Lipo will rip for sure. However I ran 2 3300’s 6cell non lipo and it was way under powered. You might need to run 2 batteries as well.
