I contacted whipple about the gen 5 about a month ago and was told the gen 5 would NOT have a top mounted cooler, so I ordered the gen 4.

Reaffirms why I stayed vmp. I'd wait and do the covers now if not you 'll be pulling the blower again.

Whipper just released the gen5 teaser pics yesterday.
i dont want this to turn into a pissing match here. im a big fan of the vmp 2.3 but lets be honest here, the 2.5 for the cobras doesnt come without its issues. and i believe the gen4 2.9 with outshine the 2.65 power and time wise.
i still may do the covers, have to get them repowdered, but i may just say F it and stick with the ones i have and wait until i have a reason to pull the motor and do them then

When I swapped my valve covers I used a lot of blue painters tape and then pull it after everything was done. Also kept the dirty fingerprints to a minimum.

Will you be able to run the crossover under the front of the blower?
not sure why i didnt think about this but ill be doing this weather i go back with the old ones or get the others redone

Best of luck with it....you will get it sorted out and be thrilled with the results IMO. It will crush the 2.3 vmp by a wide margin. Huge top end charge.....it will be perfect for those half mile events. Just look at the trap speeds in the 1/4 mile it has posted....Upper 150s is no joke on these old "dinosaurs" of a mustang.
thanks bro. im excited about the finished product. fore is taking care of the parts i need and my new valve cover gasket will be here tomorrow. and yes i think the 2.9 will outshine the 2.3 in every fashion.

allen trapped 156 with his gen 4
156 in 1/4 is no joke. my car isnt really set up for 1/4 runs but the 1/2 mile should be fun!

After dealing with them in the car I've decided if they ever need to come off again the motor is getting pulled. Less headache. Plus I'll probably throw in the GT cams I have laying around.

yea man, 156mph is fast. I believe allen aka broke7 still has the stock heads. its a 4.6 with 9.1 compression and cams. The man can drive. broke7 and venomousjohm, who I knew personally and a good friend, were the two best drivers I have seen.

I was going to sell the cobra but I may keep it. I just keep hearing that the new mustangs will be a pain to pass emission. Our year cars are a bit easier. and sct changed a few things. I MAY do one last supercharger swap. I did plenty of swaps on my car. But never could hit a decent number. so I MAY wait for the gen 5. That will be the last blower swap I do on the cobra. After that, it will be engine stuff.

Got back at it today after the Fore parts and new valve cover gasket came in. With the right fittings the rails fit great and now the crossover is behind the blower (looks much better than in the front over the top). Hige shout out to justin at for fir sending me multiple fittings to see what worked best for me. He even overnighted them on his dime.
So I got the rails in, valve cover back (sticking with my original red ones until I pull the motor in the future) blower in, and most of the vac lines figured out. Blower is a monster but from what I can tell it fits surprisingly well, haven't put the strut tower brace on or closed the hood. But according to whipple the case is the same height as the 2.3 so I dont forsee any problems.
This thing dwarfs the 2.3 tvs in every aspect.
Also got my custom coil covers on. Did them myself and I think they came out great.
Here are some pics, in no particular order

Your crossover at the back makes me think thats the best/only way. Unless I go with a Y block.

Did you polish the pulley yourself?

The crossover in the back is definitely the way to go.
And yes I did polish the pulley myself. I'm still debating if I want the polished one or if I want to run the factory black one. That's easy enough to change last minute.

Had a little time tonight. Started connecting everything and rerouting things that need to be moved. Biggest issue I have is I cant get to the last injector on the passenger side. Figure I'll break for the night and live to fight another day. Hopefully tomorrow sheds some new light on it. But everything else is coming together

ok so i got the last injector clipped in. ill take some pics tonight and update things i came across that will be helpful to others looking to install this. some of the instructions from whipple are very good and then other leave out very important info.

so im finally done. except for the strut tower brace and the p[plastic piece on the firewall. im making sure everything is good to go before i bolt the brace back in, its a MFer to get on and off.
things i learned and tips for install:
whipple makes a great product but their instructions suck and the could have made some adjustments over the years from all the small things that could be changed
installing the blower, intake and fuel stuff together is a must, im not sure how you would be able to do it piece by piece in the car
the tps harness needs to be extended due to the new location of the tps
you need an iac adapter from cobra engineering if you want to keep your a/c (i do)
You need a slot style maf
You need an adapter harness for you new maf
you need aftermarket fuel rails to clear the plenum
having the j2fab flow mod makes install even more difficult due to its size
the MMSTB-8 brace does fit!!!
the last injector on the pass side is bitch to get clipped into the harness
mark your vac hose very good, again whipples instructions as to what goes where is garbage

thats all i can think of right now. im waiting on 04sleeper to get me a tune then we will start making some noise. i plan to strap it on a dyno once its fully dialed in to see what it makes. my fuel is pump e70

You need to drill your own ports in the intake tube for both the iac and iat1 (if you choose to run the stock iat sensor, I tied mine into the slot style maf to keep it a little neater)
I trimmed down the bar going into the intake to help with flow and keep the air moving
