If you had an intake gasket leak, you should've seen lean conditions under boost, unless the car was tuned with this issue. The O2 sensors on these cars cannot compensate for vacuum/intake leaks. It's good to hear you found something though!

But like others have mentioned, pulley down and run a safer pump gas tune or things will become worse.

Maybe you can find a member close by.

I had went and looked a a cobra here in San Antonio. Guy having issues running. I only scanned it. But listening to it running I think he was down a cylinder.

These to me are common for head issues

I had valve issue at 60k/120k/200k

At 420k now.

A basic compression test you should be able to do. Or get done.

I do this every time I have a problem 1st

There have been some recent threads on engine miss that ended up valve issue after they threw parts at it.

We all read the same shop manual but forget

Always check all the basics first
Was told you need fast. To run

Fuel
Air
Spark
Timing

Fast

Base engine is always skipped. Compression test

Did your mobile mechanic check fuel flow?

So when I goggled intake leak testing and symptoms and the mechanic did spray starting fluid and it did react the way it says when you have an intake leak. Am I missing something?
I dont know what caused the intake gasket to start leaking but I think it has for a long time and it has gotten so bad that now the car will hardly run.
I just wish I had the knowledge to take it apart but I dont.
Thank you

I’m pretty sure pcm would pick up leak as po171/174

Just the slightest leak on pcv line

The intake gasket is a re use gasket but age may play factor

No sealants are used and it’s not cranked down like old engines

Many threads on snapped bolts. These are just past hand tight with 1/4 in tools Bolts are tiny.

Did he check them?

Also if you don’t do your own work

I suggest you ask for old parts after jobs.

To many crooks out there.

The fuel filter if you haven’t replaced again do have done.

They put this thing in the hardest spot to change. I can see a shop saying they did and not really did

No I haven't checked the bolts and neither did the mechanic.
And used to get those codes alot and I would just change the O2 sensors.
I will check the bolts for tightness.
Thanks

Those codes weren’t for bad o2.

It was o2 telling you that you have air coming in engine that’s unmetered

The pvc line. On stock intake goes under the intake.
Intake must be pulled to fix this hose

It’s a common problem from oil.

The hose will harden.
It is just pushed on a barbed fitting without a clamp

This hose will not pull off but it will spin which is a vacuum leak.

This nipple is also just below where the mechanic sprayed

And with type of intake gasket it will pass under and around ports to under intake.

There is a link with pic.
Google

03 cobra vacuum hoses documented

Will be a pdf link

Some do plug this line

Can’t say for you.

Did he do a vacuum test?

Pcv line elbows are so common to bust a hole
They also crumble and soften from oil

If you haven’t read thru these. It has everything.

Once these get modded. Almost anything can be causing your issues

Knowing more about what your car has may help guide toward trouble areas with mods

Drive ability is why I stayed as close to stock as I can.
