2 different tuners, 2 different cam strategies..(someone care to look them over)?

I have a 2013 F-150 Reg cab 5.0, bolt on build with nitrous. I run GT/Boss intake cams. I have two email tuners that write tunes for my truck. Looking over logs, one of the biggest differences is the cam timing on the intake side. I was just curious if anyone that understood this more than I do cared to take a look. I can send the files over to you.

no need

cam timing will vary by tuner using what they find works best for them.

Typically with larger nitrous shots they should be leaning on the exhaust more than the intake.

I should have mentioned I’m talking about non nitrous tunes. I only have a nitrous tune written with one tuner. Would more intake retard in the higher RPM’s promote more power?

Cam timing is similar to ignition timing being that there's no way to know without testing. When dialing in the cams you have to bracket the intake and exhaust separetly. Basically you sweep the intake cams then sweep the exhaust then come back to the intake then exhaust until you find the optimal timing. It usually takes 60 or so dyno pulls to do properly with an accurately calibrated dyno. Most tuners develop their own optimal settings that works best for them. Ignition timing fueling and even throttle control can affect optimal cam timing for a given condition. For any given setup and any given condition there is an optimal cam angle same as fueling and ignition timing. Asking if more intake retard would give more power is similar to asking if more ignition timing will make more power. There is a point where more is less and a point where less is more.
