Koni Strut Install need help!!

See video i posted, im not sure how the stock boots are supposed to install onto the koni struts

I thought that the koni dont use the stock boots. because they have a plastic ring/scraper on the shaft that keeps the shaft cleaned of debris.

Having said that, I was able to reuse my stock boot and rubber stop on the konis.

I slide them on before I did the install.
I used permatex and a tiewrap to hold the boot to the stop....later I had one boot get loose and put two short screws instead of the tiewraps.

The bilstein dust boot, which you have there, obviously will not work on the koni.

I forgot the terminator came with bilstiens

The 99-01 cobra...and probably GT..oem strut rubber boot and dust cover will work on the koni.

If you cant find some online..maybe just take them off a junk yard car.

There may also be some stops you can get through maximum motorsports. I would cantact them.

The konis don't have internal bumpstops like the bilstiens; so you probably should have something in terms of a bump stop.

The MM CC plate bumpstops should work...BUT no dust boot....unless they sell one for it...it will fit the oem dust boot as it is a poly version of the rubber oem bump stop.

Well it is because the Terminator is a different beast in many regards.
Again it had the Bilsteins with the internal bump stops and thinner body/dust boot.

That makes sense about the internal bumpstops, i was wondering why the cobra was the only one without the sleeve/bumpstop on every other new edge video i seen. I hope the Konis come with internal bumpstops then..

no I dont think that they do!

again...as I recall, the mm cc plates come with bump stops...that fit the oem (non-terminator) dust boots sleeves....

check with mm.

what is nice about the koni struts is that they do not have to be modded, like the billies do, to go mm co later..

If you take the struts out again to put in the bumpstops, be careful not to strip the top of the strut while trying to get the top bolt off again...you are better off using an air wrench to get the top bolt off again...ask me how I know...ahem..


The pointy end of the mm cc plate bump stop appears to go in pointing up...but double check with mm.

Aside: I pack the top cc bearing up top with silicone grease to keep dirt from getting in the ball joint...looks a bit ugly but it works...dirt is only going to collect on the surface of the gease...like a real dust boot.
